Meet the commissioners, view the terms of reference and hear the Commission Chair Sir Michael Lyons explain his approach.
I think Eddie's determined to be the one to make the 20 000th entry himself....
A while back Ed I posed this question for the PM Poll:
Is renewing Trident a useful or necessary idea ?
Below is the tally so far:
Feel free to vote:
"Must Have!"
5 of 72 total votes (6.9%)
"We could do with a smaller deterrent but we still need Nukes "
16 of 72 total votes (22.2%)
"Totally inappropriate in today's world"
28 of 72 total votes (38.9%)
"We need an open debate before deciding"
10 of 72 total votes (13.9%)
"A binding Referendum"
0 of 72 total votes (0%)
"Absolutely preposterous idea"
13 of 72 total votes (18.1%)
Eddie's Paddy clip is in the audio section along with another clip from when Paddy was on LBC in London. The end of it is quite amusing!
I wonder what time we will hit the 20,000
I say 16:09
Could be 16:10 ?
could be 16:15 ?
Could be 16:16 ?
Do we expect a big fanfair of an announcement on the show tonight if the fabled number is passed?
Curse this pause in my posting...does the ´óÏó´«Ã½ not know that I have a total absence of malice?
Wouldn't that be appropriate though Si!
may be at 17:00
may be later ?
I don't suppose I will win, I never win anything really. I will just stand over here in my usual gloomy place if anybody wants me, not that anyone ever does. *sigh*
may be later ?
Simon commented a minute earlier than Eddie posted !
the blog could crash :-(
What are we up to now then Eddie ?
Should be getting close now ?
I must be bored ?
Tell us when it happens Eddie !
must be getting near now ?
Can't be long to wait
It's so exciting -- 20,000
Jonnie - you taken up train announcing? Ah, no that would have been "could be the 16.15, sorry.
I think Eddie's trying to get his hands on the Frog Prince's prize. It must be a good one after all.
Don't forget to tell us Eddie
jonnie (posts passim) the noun you seek is "spammer".
It's clearly been a hotly-fought battle between Jonnie and Eddie for the 200,000th posting.
If only Wimbledon were this exciting!
BTW Jonnie ... I tried to vote on the Poll but there's nothing there. Help?
Fifi
Will you be able to get back to Newsletter shenanigans now that 20000000000 is out of the way? We havent heard since New Year's Day, unless Mr Postie has been nicking them... :(
Re the bit of tonight's PM on the B&B's who wish to bar same sex couples.
I can't find the words... It just makes me so angry. PM has to try and retain the laudable ´óÏó´«Ã½ principle of "balance". But the words spoken by the B&B owner and others of his opinion are just bigotry. Plain old bigotry. "No dogs, no jews, no Irish" or however the vile mantra went.
Of course I accept that many people have difficulty dealing with homosexuality, I had a hard time coming out myself! There's an awful lot of fear and ignorance about. But these B&B people are going out of their way to discriminate and I just find it hard to believe that this is because of their Christian principles. Most of the Christians I know are good people, not bigots.
Apologies if I'm in the wrong place, I really needed to rant. Oh yes, PM is the best news prog there is in the UK and Eddie is King, so there.
Declan I don't blame you. I think Eddie should tell us where this B&B is so we can all avoid it.
Now if you want somewhere friendly to stay I'm sure a weekend away at the lovely jonnie's would be more up your street. Click on jonnie's name for more details *shameless advertising*. They seem to have great Christmas parties too.

Declan - your post ain't in the wrong place (even if my apostrophe is!)
y'know, with a forum i bet people just go back to "their" threds but here, people have to go back over many 'threads' picking up many conversations and arguments and viewpoints and that's why this frog is better than other blogs
Jonnie you are naughty! As ever I have no idea who broke through the new barrier - but let's face it, chances are it was you!
Declan (29)
I was very pleased to hear the B&B owner on last night's programme. It requires considerable courage for ordinary folk to face the media as he did. And in this case I am happy to be a bigot.
HMG published an 80-page document about its proposals, many of which were based on unsubstantiated claims. I sent a response containing a mere 5 pages, but never heard a thing about whether any of my comments were taken on board. Still, if government consultation followed it usual process, no-one's comments will have been taken into account.
Vyle,
Oh, the joys of engaging in !
1. A summary of Government thinking.
2. A set of questions to ponder.
3. Responses from consultees
4. Summary of responses and a 'taking on board' and invitation to respond to that.
5. Final summary and restatement of virtually unchanged (1.)
6. Repeat as needed.

Oooh. Ed I (34) We agree. Is this a first?
Vyle,
Nah, nor the last, but never complete, I suspect, or where would be the fun?

A poem for bigots everywhere;
First they came for the Communists,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I wasn’t a Jew.
Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn’t speak up,
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me,
and by that time there was no one
left to speak up for me.
