Eddie! You see you have got something to say!
It hasn't made me stop worrying but vyle's picture has cheered me up somewhat.
Mary
Vyle! Your very own spot on the Beach! Mind you, Lee Vitout has got better pecs ...
And Eddie, a Blog at last! Please now reassure us that you aren't leaving PM - or, if you are, that you're not leaving Radio 4 - or, if you are, that you're not leaving the airwaves altogether ....... There's a lot of worry in the air at the moment, as you'll see when you catch up on the Blog.
41, 42, and 43 and my picture`s still not there ... I think it`s in 33 - the one whose link is broken. Have noticed a huge variety in surnames ....
Okay. I'm just guessing, but is the sad news actually about Carolyn? But, if so, Eddie, you can reveal it now, because we know she's taking over the Westminster Hour this month, and presumably will then be unavailable to 'sub' for you. I imagine Nigel's stepping into the breach.
Perhaps you have a holiday planned and are worried we'll be unsettled by the handover to Nigel in the interim? But Nigel's a nice man, even if he doesn't blog much. Lissa can take over that bit for holidays, if that's the problem. Or Mr. Knibbs.
Eddie, you cannot keep us in suspense like this. I've just nominated you for Broadcaster of the Year.
Eddie (and Vyle) - it's a lovely picture and sooo nostalgic. Oh, DayOne Beach, don't leave us.
Eddie, have you anything else to tell us? Please?
It's not me who's leaving (sniff)...
Big Sister, you are in a real state aren't you! So am I. What's Aperitif going to say?
I worry for all of us!
Mary
Jackie (3) - still haven't seen mine either, but Vyle's picture of the beach is a definite plus.
Okay, Eddie, so it's not you. I can sleep tonight. Which makes it Carolyn, Lissa, or us. We, emphatically, are not leaving. And even if you closed down the Blog, we'd set up our own Blog and insist you blogged along with us. Well, I'll rephrase that, we'd use all our guiles to persuade you to blog with us.
But my money's on Carolyn, who's off to the Westminster Hour this month. But that, Eddie, we already knew.
Or is it someone else...? The mystery, therefore, continues.
But thanks Eddie for relieving us of our misery (over you, that is!)
Sister Mary: We don't seem to have seen Appy or RobbieDo for a while. Do you think they've an assignation somewhere else?
Hm, I hope it doesn't happen but methinks it might be Lissa. Hope not as she's contributed in all ways to this 'ere blog and it'd be nice for her to be around when it morphs again...
Interestingly(?) apparently Newsletters from the ´óÏó´«Ã½ have been notoriously bad no matter the programme.
I was reading the blog of ex-workers in the New Media department and it seems that at one point the News dept outsourced the operation due to an "(apparently clunky) majodomo server". And that outsourcing solution worked fine!
Except.... the solution didn't scale and so it was brought in-house again and... well. I only know of this blog so the half open-source half custom built solution that is apparently there doesn't seem to be working any better than the original solution - at least for PM.

an idea folks:
I was reminded of the "bloggie" awards the other day (another blog I read shamelessly asked its loyal audience to vote for it! which I will as its in a different category!!)
Now, Eddie and the team would never be so craven as to ask... but wouldn't it be a nice send-off for whoever is going?
and a nice way for us to say "thanks" to the whole team and everyone?
The say of themselves:
"The Weblog Awards are a non-profit project created in 2001 to award the best blogs. All the Bloggie winners are chosen by the public."
Basically, voting is open now to see who gets to go the shortlist and become a finallist (ooh its so X-Factor). Once the shortlist is made, we vote again in late January. But we have to vote now to get on the shortlist!
Its - you simply:
- scroll down
- find the appropriate Categories (for PM maybe "Best British or Irish Weblog", "Best Weblog About Politics"? "Best Topical Weblog", certainly "Best Community Weblog", "Best New Weblog" and obviously "Weblog of the Year"!)
- put in the Nominee ("Eddie Mair and PM Team" or something similar I guess)
- put in the URLs of your favourite blogs (for this PM blog it would be "/blogs/pm/")
- and then send in the form.
One form per 'person' (defined as an email address)
Entries stop NEXT WEDNESDAY 10th so if you are going to do this - DO IT NOW!
btw, the website has a typo ("2005") but I checked the other specific dates and the dates he mentions are correct for 2007.
just a thought...
I'm very jealous of people who manage to get their posting aired within 60 minutes of placing it.
My average at present seems to be 2 hours.
Felt like S**t today after the vaccinations for the forthcoming holiday.
Who's leaving? I listened to PM -- Eddie didn't mention anything did he ?
Don't leave Eddie or Lissa will you!
My Cousin Nicola who's a teacher has a passion for photography. She asked me if I knew a site to upload photo's for the family to see so I suggested Flickr.
She just e-mailed me her photostream -- If you like wildlife and animals they are very good but she'd probably blush if she knew I'd mentioned it on the PM Blog.
Ap
I posted the same message many hours ago but it never appeared. If you are reading, check your flickr.
RJD - As you're around again (though, looking at the Beach, I gather you'll be changing frog-de-plume), are you okay? And is Appy okay? She is, these days, a very rare bird on these shores, and much missed. Can you encourage her to revisit us?
whisht (13) have tried to submit as suggested but it requires you to submit three different nominees which I don't want to do, not knowing of two others I'd want to suggest, also the form wouldn't take my email address (perhaps because of the above) - sorry.
Anne P (18),
I ran into the same madness, but simply submitted three different pages from this blog (just changed the url in each case).
RJD, I agree it can be bothersome, and severely disrupt the flow of jaunty banter, but even our Mairster's comments seem to suffer long delays, as witness last night's on this very comments stream.
I'm sure many others would miss you as I would, should your patience (for which your countrymen are so famous?) fail.

Anne P (18) & Whisht,
I'm stuck with the same problem. Even looked up Captain Gatso in a desperate search for additional blogs. Actually, my ISP allows me a blog. Perhaps I should populate that and then nominate it!
aw heck!
I'm so sorry for starting something and then not checking it didn't have a stoopid speed-bump in it!
What I'll do is look at my bookmarked blogs tomorrow and post em either here or on my blog.
just take a quick look and see if any make you giggle or frown or whatever!!
I'm not a huge blog-reader myself and so the only ones I can think of off the top of my head is "" the funny blogging of a TFL teacher. That and my near-daily fix of an but it wouldn't be right to suggest you vote for that unless you're an Arsenal or footy fan!!
apologies again for suggesting something that isn't as simple as I'd thought...
Jonnie (15) the vaccinations are worth it, Sri Lanka is lovely! Which bits are you going to?
Whisht (21), I finally managed to get it to work although the email address does not appear as you type, but when I picked it off the dropdown that did it worked even though I couldn't see it - if you see what I mean.
I did as Ed suggested and picked three different PM blog threads to submit.
Big Sis (17)
Couldn't respond earlier. Answers are Yes, Yes and Yes.
of course there's Mad mary's and Helen Sparkles' blogs, but I didn't remember them until too late.
ed
Ah how sweet Ed I. I would post Helen Sparkles but not mine. There's always Jason's and whisht's too.
Mary
RJD: I think we've both caught up on that one since I posted 17 and I was assured you'd hear too.
Both good and bad news all rolled into one.
Gallery 43, number 83 features a very IT-savvy kitten. I think the ´óÏó´«Ã½ should hire him to fix the newsletter. He might be better at meowderating too. Unless someone mentions mice...
I see rats were back on the programme again tonight. And they're getting bigger -22 inches - that's quite a rat!
At least, Lissa, if all goes ahead with this new cottage, you will know NOT to put down decking of any kind. You can thank the ´óÏó´«Ã½ for that piece of information, and realise your time on PM was far from wasted.
Hey, just wanted to say again that I'm sorry for suggesting something that I thought would be both amusing and somehow satisfying, for the PM team especially Lissa who (if it won!) could hang up a gong or whatever in the office....
I was thinking of suggesting fellow froggers' blogs but stoopidly feared it would sound like I wanted a vote for mine. Also I was afraid I'd forget one, as there are quite a few!
anyway, although its too late here are a coupla blogs that might (might) make you chuckle or muse.
again, apologies for not checking that bloggie site first!!
The (like me, getting back into blogging and some of his earlier postings were, well.... he was having fun abroad. Now he's . but hopefully that doesn't mean the fun stuff has ended.
I've only just come across a day or two ago and in fact almost did have an acident as this stuff really does get my juices going. Data visualisation, design etc etc etc.
Yummy.
And is the rantings(??) of Dr. Ben Goldacre who writes in the Guardian on a Saturday. Especially useful if you're into nutritionism. He really really really hates Gillian McKeith. I mean, even more than I hate people on telly (and that's saying something).
Though tellingly, he actually has reasons for disliking people, which I would never sink to.
I'll stop now as is a site that links to new interesting stuff on the interwub. If you're looking for something not to do over lunch then this might provide the links to it.
and its where I'll be looking for new blogs... other than fellow froggers of course!
Whisht,
Thanks for the growabrain, where I found as only Jews can (or are allowed) do it.
Shalom
