It's what we do
Ah Eddie, we've always known it is your crap, don't worry.
Eddie
I thought you wanted us to do the PM staplines! How can we compete with that?
PM - It may be crap but it's my crap.
Can we get that last line printed on mugs, t-shirts and other "merchandise" please?
I've just been blocked a potential malicious type!!
Just read newsletter...angry email has made this little desk monkey smile.
My manager has also just commented that he has noted a very cyncial streak emerging in my character; a PM influence perhaps??
Don't even get me started on Chris Moyles, ooh I'm getting angry just thinking about him and his pompous, not funny in the slightest but thinks he is ways (held myself back there for fear of being moderated!)
....and its crap that you should be very proud of Eddie - we all love it, even though it is a bit on the shall we say cranky side!
Chris Moyles??
Who he?
Who care?
Si.
Ah, but it's the quality of the cr*p that keeps us here :-p
Yes Ed -- That's why it's so popular! And I don't mean because it's crap!
Interesting -- I just had a look at Chris Moyles blog. Perhaps six apart should take over our blog then!

Aperitif (3)
Am quite tempted to have a Frogger t-shirt made up (as well as an 'I am Spartacus' one)
Fearless : Do you remember this blast from the past - Sheer quality :-)
Quietish day.
Things I saw out of the window a short time ago:
12.23: no-one.
12.24: woman, mousey hair, petite, going left to right.
Blonde woman with mobile phone, left to right across road.
Short balding man carrying, improbably, a stripey yellow and black sign. Left to
right
12.25: Man in suit, pin stripe, right to left. Oh, three men at once there, right to left all
at once. Only noticed a white shirt.
12.26: Anxious looking woman in specs clutching a folder. Nice blue jumper. Left to
right.
Man with the sign has walked back, on this side of the road.
12.27:Man in stripey t shirt right to left. Oh and a flurry of others right to left. This is
more tricky than it seems. Had better stop. People are suggesting bits of work
to do.
There really are other ´óÏó´«Ã½ blogs??????????????
Gee.
I thought the Tech guy was exaggerating...
The PM blog
Can be such a dog
It's full of pap
But it's Eddie's crap
(c) Fifi
I second the vote for "PM Blog - it may be crap but it's my crap" Eddie Mair to be a strapline. And signed mugs (Aperitif)
Of course, you can also read that as a stoned hippies' recommendation:
"Hey man, this is my sh!t"
Yes, great for a strapline, followed by -- next day -- the simple and eloquent "PM -- quality crap".
The PM Blog: So Crappy it's Good!
I'm sure there's a joke in here somewhere involving Dr Gillian McKeith and bloggages......('You are what you frog?')
That sentiment should see off your 22 rivals for the post of chairman Eddie. None of them would dare to make a mission statement like that.
In fact you could offer it up as an alternative to the irritating "It's what we do" .
btw I have never heard Chris Moyles. (heard "of " him, yes.Now.)
I love the PM Blog. That's what I'd like to say about it!
It's lovely crap!
Mary
only got to read the "crap" comments. If all the ´óÏó´«Ã½ produced was as good as your stuff, the world would be a better place.
Any chance of you having a go at Northern Ireland pompous politicians ? We have yet another election coming in March (whooppee) and they're still moaning about all the stuff they moaned about 30 years ago.
Maybe if they all had smoked cannabis ....
I seem to recall that "It's what I do" was also uttered by the Bishop found throwing items out of a family car recently. Is that where the beeb got it from then?
Since my post from earlier seems unlilely to show now I shall repeat: I like the idea of Eddie's last line as a strapline (as well as on mugs, t-shirts and so on). I think it should be followed by another, even simpler, brought to mind by Fearless'post at 8 above:
"PM -- Quality Crap". I think it sums it up nicely.
Another McEnroe moment, I'm afraid - Moderators, you CANNOT BE SERIOUS!
I made a comment based around Eddie's assessment of the Blog and, having chewed it over, the Mods seem to have spat it out.
PM: Eddie's Cr*p, Moderated Cr*p.
Another vote for the straplined merchandise!
On the other side they could all say Let the Healing Begin?
The only time I saw Chris Moyles was on the tribute to Swap Shop that aired some months ago. Basically anything to do with Radio 1 makes me feel old. Like the music I hear now I feel it was much better what I was a kid.
It is interesting that Radio 2 is now basically Radio 1 from 20 years ago. Even Steve Wright is on it. Next will be the return of Gary Davies and his bit in the middle.
Re: Windows on YOUR world (WOYW)
This is fun! Have a go with Google and find your picture instantly.
I didn't know mine was up there but after typing in 'Helen Sparkles' into Google in an effort to search for her blog her woyw pic popped straight up! I then tried 'Cransley Kitchen' and there was my photo.
I even found my (SO) by typing in Simon PM, although he was four down the list.
Have a go!
Oh dear, never let anyone influence you to mess with your crap... we wouldn't want you to develop IrrItable Bowel Syndrome...
Jonnie (27) thanks for that - brilliant.
PM Blog - expanding even further into the wasteland.
Oh Yes Anne -- Your present wrapping photo -- but that was on the advent calendar I recall ?
/radio4/news/pm/galleries/748/3/
Ooops, I just misread the strapline. (No glasses on). Thought it said "Ironic news broadcasting". Made perfect sense to me.
I really must get on now -- but I just tried these three words in google.
Eddie Mair Crap
Some interesting results -- a little way down, however there is a site called UK Political Blog Feeds. Some very complimentary stuff about Eddie :
"As I got in my car tonight and turned on Radio 4, my ears were treated to the most awful display of hero worshipping toadying crap I think I have ever hear. In the interview with Eddie Mair, Tony Blairs personal pollster Philip Gould just defied every statistic and fact that Eddie could chuck at him to repeat the line over and over again that Tony Blair is a great man, is not a liability and Labour would win the next election.
What was funny as though that Eddie Mair kept on at him in such a way that Philip Gould made himself start to sound ridiculous, so much so that Eddie likened him to "Comical Ali", the former Iraqi propaganda spokesman who denied the Americans were in Baghdad just hours before the capital fell under their control.
Top marks to Eddie Mair, particularly when Gould started going on about having politicians and leaders with conviction. Mair replied with words to the effect of
"when you talk about conviction and this Labour government it has another meaning as they may well be convicted shortly"
Jonnie (27) I tried googling gossipmistress and am shocked to find that there is another, in USA called Elizabeth Spiers!
That's a fun game, thank you Jonnie. Although the second down the list for me was this:
Belinda on Yvonne and Hugh...
which is an event which I can't really remember all that well, sadly.
The topic of this thread reminds me of another iconic thread - way back in August. The Crap Competition.
Appy, if your suggestion didn't appear, how did I manage to agree with it??
Hey Jonnie (27) I said that a few days ago, on the beach I think, how I googled my name in one of my moments of desperate boredom and the real me appeared as no. 3 on the returns with my WOYW entry!! Maybe no-one read my post....sob?
(ignore me by the way - am feeling very sorry for myself today, its Valentine's day and all I got this year was a row with SO - lets just say we are sailing some stormy seas at the moment!!!)
Fiona (35) Sorry you're having a bad day. You know where you can come for a moan and symapathy......though only ''virtual'' tea I'm afraid.
Oh Fiona, Cheer up!
I think I missed that post - but to be quite honest the last few days have been a bit strange .
So are you the Fiona from Gwynedd. If so you look like an acomplished keyboard player. Well done! However I can see that you look a bit down.
/radio4/news/pm/galleries/891/28/
Sorry to hear about the current probs -- perhaps you should both go out for a meal later ? Anyway we can try and cheer you up.
Perhaps even Eddie will say hello ?
Jonnie (31) my WOYW photo was the one with the log burning stove and my knitting.
/radio4/news/pm/galleries/845/243/
And - wonderful timing - the Christmas (!) sweater has been finished just in time for Valentine's Day. I'll take a photo once it's been washed to remove the industrial oils.
Thanks Gillian (37) - and virtual tea/coffee/wine etc etc is fine by me......... at least I wont have to worry about having to go into "virtual" rehab with a "virtual" addiction lol!
And thanks too Jonnie - but no that is not me I'm afraid (there are WAY too many Fiona's out there!), that said I can play chopsticks pretty well I have to say......... As I said its just a bit of stormy weather which I'm sure will pass - pressure of trying to work/raise children/keep house/live etc - gets a bit much sometimes. A meal would be lovely - are you offering to babysit?? :) ........but a "hello" from Eddie would be even nicer!
Fiona - I'm sorry that you are having a lousy day. If it is any consolation, I had a phone call from my working-away husband who said "February 14th? Oh yeah, that reminds me, it's [best friend]'s birthday tomorrow!".
I would like to return home tonight to a box of chocolates and maybe some high-quality wooden-barreled alcohol, but I know that I'll just spend the evening with a roasted trout and a parsnip . And as it happens, I get annoyed at anyone who pays £4 for a piece of coloured card bent in half really.
hey - not fair!
Its our crap too!!
We contribute far more crap to this blog than Eddie!!
Belinda: I know you're cross with your husband, but to refer to him as a roasted trout is going too far ....
Big Sis (44),
I thought Belinda was referring to her husband as a parsnip....;-)
Did I tell you I got a Valentine's email from Mr Val P? That's a first in 33 years - he must be giving in at last!
Or maybe he read what I said on the Beach last night :o)
Fiona ... big hugs ... I'm sure you are right about the pressure of everyday life being to blame.
And anything that goes wrong feels worse on 'big days' like 14 Feb.
Pop along to the Beach if you get time later, and we'll all drown our sorrows together. There's a whole case of Black Stump behind the bar, and two bottles of champagne.
Fifi x
Fiona and all, big hugs from me.
These 'big' days can act like a magnifying glass, can't they?
Belinda's reference to £4 for coloured card bent in half has given me an idea for the PM 'mugs', building on [nicking?] ideas above.
'Greg Dyke - Cut the crap !'
'Eddie Mair - It may be crap, but it's my crap.'
'PM Bloggers - But it's our crap too !'
Anne P - could you tell me what sort of stove that is - as in make rather than log burning. We are planning to replace our open fire with something similar but it has to fit into a very nice fireplace with Victorian tiles round it so I need something that will 'tuck in'.
And if anyone even mutters the word vandalism at the thought of replacing an open fire, - I will happily keep it if you will come and dust for me every day.
Belinda (35) Naughty corner! Now!
Valery (36), It didn't appear until after I'd posted the next one, honest! You must've got in in between!
Fiona (41), Sorry your Valentine's Day was sad -- hope it's all sorted out now.
Whisht (43), You are quite right. Let's have that on a strapline too!
Valery (46) again, I hope he isn't feeling guilty about something! Did he not perform to standard last Friday?
If we're all such big fans of Eddie, do you think that the crap has hit the fans...?
I think it has y'know, I think it has....
Alison Richard for "just a minute" (?)
Skirm (53)
Work interveened just as she was introduced. Can someone enlighten why the JaM reference?
Because for someone who's new to the game she almost managed to go a whole minute on one breath while EM tried to find a way of interjecting.
What about celebrity JaM where politicians could finally put that talent to some use?
Can I hummmbly suggest week1...
Alistair Campbell (please let it through just this once, Moderator)
Alistair Darling (oops I see a pattern emerging here)
The Israeli (foreign?) minister with the crew cut and the American accent.
In honour of Gordon (22) Any local councillor from NI
skirm (55) how about openning up week 2 to certain broadcasters - mostly from Today, but with a certain question from Lord Ed de Mair...
If election funding is going to be restricted and we're looking for a campaign model that offers a level playing field, is cost effective and allows representation to all comers... A league!
Boris Johnston & Derek Hatton
versus
Nick Griffin & Diane Abbot
This is what we do
Skirm (57),
I thought that Diane Abbot came with Michael Portillo these days...
BTW, welcome.
Deepthought:
I ordered a Michael Portillo with a Boris Johnson on the side. And now you're telling me I have to have a Diane Abbott as well? How limited the menu is these days .....
Whisht (52) Hahahaha!
Skirm, welcome!
DeepJohnThought (58) Naughty corner for you!
btw, Alistair Campbell is quite charming and friendly in person. He is only agressive to journalists. He was very good at his job and they didn't like it, and that is why he got a bad press.
Deepthought - I really think you should rephrase that Diane Abbot/Michael Portillo sentence.
Oh yeah, I'd forgotten DA and MP were together now. Do you think Glenda Jackson would mind filling in?
Cheers for the welcome.
Oh, here we go again - Naughty Corner. If only I could get my seat unglued.
This sticky seat business is really puzzling me Valery!
Valery P, Appy-
Here we go again! Less blogging ...
Marigolds on ! Where's the Cif ?....
Mollyxx
*injured innocence - again*
Appy - your friend and mine superglued teacher's chair to the floor after she went out yesterday morning, on Everyone's a Critic!
Ah yes Valery (67), thanks. I did see it but had forgotten by the time I got here. He's a bad boy that one.
DeepJohn (66) Innocence? A likely story! You can come back now though -- I think you were being naughty in the Naughty Corner!
