It's always a bit of a whirlwind, catching up after holidays. I've been replying to old urgent emails from people in other bits of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ saying things like: "Hey what was the name of that woman you interviewed last Friday?" or "can you present our programme on Tuesday", or "I am a senior ´óÏó´«Ã½ executive but I appear to have a cat on my head, what should I do?"
Ronnie Corbett is on the front of the Daily Mirror today, pointing. Why?
Upon my return I hear that (and I hope you're sitting down for this) we've discovered another way we let down people with this Blog. Oh yes. Just when you thought we'd run out of ways! To be fair, this dates back to Day One - but we intend to right the wrong. If we've time, as we watch every single moment of the Phil Spector trial. I know the judge is worried about meeting a Wall of Silence.
And I still have that Julie Andrews book on my desk. I will do something about it. I promise.
One other thing: we are about 300 or so comments away from our 30,000th. Good grief.

While you were away, there was some discussion about radio, and in particular Radios 3 & 4. The control freak stated on "Feedback" that R3 has the biggest blog. Sorry, I'll rephrase that. The control freak stated that R3 had the biggest blog. That will have been until most of it was deleted.
Another statement, by Jonnie, was that LBC gave Londoners an alternative to Radio 4. We rural types used Radio 3 as an alternative before the days of local radio. I used to love listening to a programme called "Six Continents" in which excerpts from foreign broadcasts were played. As a reactionary imperialist, I especially liked the ones from the Soviet bloc.
Eamo - no, that was definitely Carolyn Quinn. She presents everything now - hadn't you noticed? Some kind of budget- cutting exercise, I think. Just the one presenter for all programmes. I can't think where you've heard of this Cedric Mare chappie. Perhaps he was on the telly?
Btw - who has been watching Shaun the Sheep? It's so BRILLIANT we tape it & watch it all in one go at the weekend. (Has to be nightime, because of our no daytime tv rule...) Funniest thing I've seen for years. I bet they have it on in the PM office. (3 45 pm on ´óÏó´«Ã½ 1, for anyone who's missed it so far)
Two things:
1) I have resisted the urge to say anything negative, so will simply say that I am listening forward to your return to active duty today.
2) The default home page for this blog today appears to be some time in last September....

Annasee, I do so agree with your opinion of Shaun the Sheep. It is inspired....and we do not have young children in our family. Makes us laugh out loud every time.
I've seen a few Shaun The sheep. And yes they are good. I never got round to setting the DVD recorder (posh or what!) so will be in queue to buy when they are put onto DVD.
They do repeat them on Cbbc on Sundays I think.
I wonder if this stuff about 30000 posts and Julie andrews is something t o do with getting rid of the book?
Or is it posible to know when 30000 posts are passed but not who it is?

Yes Annasee I'm with you on Shaun the Sheep - love it! I see it the days I do school pick up (take little one home, wait for dad handover and then come back to work for a couple of hours)

Now to important things. Is the 'Shaun the Sheep' thingie a spinoff from the Wallace and Gromit film? If so, I'm going to have to malinger for a while and watch it.
As for this 30,000 business; well, Gillian's right; stand by for bloggade. After all, it's what we do.
Vyle mentioned the 'Feedback' item on blogs, message boards etc. A muffled 'eek' at the thought that they'd think of axing our Frog.
And, yes, Eddie and Marc, I know we're an experiment. It was only last week I was spirited away into a PM spaceship and examined by camels. Then I woke up and realised it was all a dream.

several years ago on holiday in Tunisia we were sat down with a group of locals in an oasis plantation and they passed round pipes, after which you had the opportunity not only to buy one of the pipes, but some of the 'special grass' they smoke in them. We didn;t bother.
Hooray for the weather btw. My in-laws, who have foolishly got on a very cheap train from Exeter to Aberdeen will not be able to cross the water to see us, as the ferries are all cancelled. This makes up for the very cold wind and the intermittent hail, even though I had to go out in them this morning.
Frances O - I don't know about spin off from Wallace & Gromit, (I watched the film about 4 times in the plane on our last trip to Australia, but kept falling asleep, so can't be sure what it was all about. Some kind of giant rabbit?)
Shaun is certainly an Aardmann animations product, & it is absolutely worth malingering to catch it. Or setting the video recorder (take note, F Fred. Technology is so marvellous these days - you don't have to be at home to watch it at 3 45! You could tape it & watch over tea. Fantastic.)
OOOooo, Annasee, I'll just have to try for myself, having an unexpected Monday at home and lots to do on the puter. (Yes! It's true! We who work at home do nothing but watch daytime telly!)

Ffred, I too love CSI....all of them. You're the first person (besides my mother and sister) I've come across who watches it. It's taken me all this time but I believe my teenage son is starting to pay attention, too. Oh the wonder of television, bringing the family together!
I don't do daytime tv, and that's nowt to do with the children, that's to make sure that my "working from home" gets done! (Video recorder hasn't worked ever since we had to get satellite tv as our analogue signal gave up (too many trees)). Though, it isn't at the moment, as I've given into temptation, to see what I've been missing from Eric today on the Frog. Welcome back Mr Mayor!
Ffred, if I were you I would prioritise Shaun, & leave the rest. I think you'll laugh so much you won't miss the other programmes at all. Go on, give it a try - you know I'm right.

Frances O - I also had no idea what the title of Eddies posting meant. (I know - where had I been for the last week? Not in front of the telly, obviously.) I assumed either all would be revealed in the programme, or else he was off on some wackier-than-usual tangent which I would never understand. I heard PM, & lo! all was revealed. I loved the sound clip of the winning performance. Oh how we laughed in our kitchen!
Actually, Annasee (22), I thought that the sound clip went on a bit too long. You can have too much of a bad thing, you know.
