Peculiar things
seem to be happening with the PM newsletter. Today's seemed to arrive in double quick time - but one from last week is missing.
I mention in today's newsletter that we "make it into The Sun today. The paper's Whip column points out that we goofed on Friday, and no-one noticed. Sure enough, I've just checked back and the script was indeed written:
"The Foreign Office says it will be looking closely at remarks made by the Russian tycoon, Boris Berezovsky, in which he apparently calls for President Yeltsin to be forced from office.""
But Izzy Time has emailed to say:
"I rather think that if you look at Friday's glass box you will note that the goof was noticed and commented upon, forthwith."
We can't get anything right.
Proof - can't even get my name right!!
Well excuse ME, but there's no newsletter arrived here yet. Probably got sent to President Yeltsin last September by mistake...
Do you think someone at the Sun listens to PM then? Or reads the blog?
Just got the newsletter (hey it arrived!) and.. well either you're up to mischief calling the Defence Sec Gordon Brown, or maybe you're making the same mistake as Naughty Naughtie.
Either way for info it's Des O Connor. Might as well be.
How do we know it isn't Boris Berezovsky who made the mistake? PM may have been quoting accurately.
And Eddie, do not be so hard on yourself, you do get some things right occasionally. The Bee story for example. That was great.
Izzy (1) it was supposed to be a wee joke...along the lines of Gordon and Tony in the newsletter. But then since we goof so often - how are you supposed to know?!
I think we all noticed but it was a chucklesome mistake - will such errors be known as 'doing a Yelstsin' in future? And yes, newletter has arrived here!
Eric - how thick am I. :(
I love that you're not slick and polished - just like me, keep up the good work!
sorry to re-post this but it mat have been overlooked.
So what do *YOU* the PM Frogger think.
Should PM have a theme tune Yes or No.
Cast your vote
One vote is allowed per day - I have a static IP so the same goes for me.
There is no Glass Box for Saturday’s programme, which would perhaps be a good idea, but I have added my comments to the Friday version.
Is Yelts in, or out?
Carolyn was wonderful on Today, almost as wonderful as she is on PM. But in the way of balance, Eddie you're wonderful on PM almost as wonderful as on.. umm.. the podcast.. but miles better than that Five TV thing that you used to do(or was it ´óÏó´«Ã½ 3?).. although that was very good.. Oh hell... you're all bl**dy wonderful.
But who heard the sports reporter on Today Corpsing at 8.30? Something to do with plugs :-)
I think sequin was to blame .
It just goes to show that the S*n doesn't have a sense of humour :-)
I heard them too, Stewart. Which reminds me, I intended to Listen Again to try to work out exactly what triggered the joke .... No doubt Carolyn was particularly vulnerable (late night, early morning = v. tired).
But what I really wanted to say now was
Congratulations to Martha Kearney on her maiden journey in the WatO seat! And very well it went too. Not that I'm surprised, this is MARTHA after all!
I hope the Newscentre gave her a very warm welcome today - Eddie?
This email has just been sent to PM. Think it'll work?
Fifi
I never noticed the goof when it happened. But I did notice that several
froggers had noticed.
So, how about a 'panic button' on the blog, similar to the 'Oh my God it's September again' link, so that eagle-eared froggers with access to a PC at least have the opportunity to save you from ourselves before the bongs beat you to it?
It might never be used ... but it should be possible to leave that in-box open during the programme where the Editor can see it. Just in case.
Think how much more smug you'd be feeling now, had you been able to put in an ironic little apology before six!
I would NOT, however, broadcast this facility on air, as you're bound to get
malicious or mischievous messages. Just introduce it calmly on the blog, as you did with the Furrowed Brow, and those who care will know what to do.
Interfering. It's what I do. ;o)
Fifi
Oops, apparently I'm malicious. That'll teach me...
It's here, folks:

You're looking for the 0827 Sports News clip.
What set off the giggles? It was all Sequin's fault of course. How he got to the end of the bulletin I will never know.
Enjoy!
Fifi
The Sun? Sense of humour? The very idea; it's a serious newspaper
cough cough - oh, excuse me, just choked on something, or it's a throg in my froat.
Carl (10) Are you trying to cosy up to Eric? I warn you, there's one hell of a queue...
Thank you, Feefs. I do like a good corpse.
Meanwhile, should the PM editor 'put in' a bid for the Russian leader?
OK, I've got my coat.
I heard, and enjoyed, the corpsing as I honeyed my toast this morning and wondered what was sending him. Didn't think of Listen Again though. Oh I shall be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, eventually.
Re; Fifi (14)
Panic button on the blog!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I now understand why Eddie has been pluigging the 'snail mail' address on air!
Royal Mail is far more reliable than this heap of **** getting a message to TV Centre!
Panic button on the Blog -- really Fifi :-)))
Oh Frances O! (18)
