Speaking after
a hot toddy (papa can you hear me?) can I just say that with the benefit of hindsight, the buck stops with me.
I'm sorry I lack foresight but what can you do?

Surely that should read:
"Zz bee king apter a hod doddy (baa baa cad ewe ear bee?) cad I juzz zay Dad widda beddy fidov hide zeit, da bugz dobs wiv bee.
"Eye'b zorry I lag forezeit bud wod cad ya doe?"
If you're too ill to work, Eddie dear, you're too ill to blog!
Nurse Fifi
Oh bless - get back to that sick bed and rest!! (we like hot toddys though, there was a spate of them on the beach of very kinds, all v effective!)
Take care Mr Mair x
Eddie,
Haste ye back.
Well, have another hot toddy, not more coffee today at least, and let poor Sequin have a day off tomorrow!
鈥淏eing ill is one of the greatest pleasures of life, provided one is not too ill and is not obliged to work until one is better.鈥
Samuel Butler
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
And, to cheer you up, Eddie, try this:
/cbeebies/fimbles/purplemeadow/whereilive.shtml
Keep drinking the recovery juice, dear man!
Well enough to tap the little computer keys then? And poor Carolyn's been working for 12 solid hours already......
Achoo! Achoo! Achoo! A..........choo!
Ah. That explains the lack of newsletter. And I thought we had warped into those uncertain but interesting times of will it/wont it arrive. Eddie, I heard of a very good cure. It involved putting a hat at the end of the bed and drinking copious hot toddys. When you saw 2 hats you're cured! Well actually you just don't care if you are ill. Get better soon.
We could all come over and tuck you up, Eddie. It would be no trouble at all. 鈽
Dozy (3) : What a wonderful quotation!
I hope you will let me borrow it for my collection, from which I select the wise words that adorn my email signature.
The current one is:
When Elvis Presley died in 1977 there were 37 Elvis impersonators in the world. Today there are 48,000. If the current trend continues, by the year 2010, one out of every three people in the world will be an Elvis impersonator.
Thank you Dozy!

I, too, am poorly sick. I have not been near my desk for a couple of days and may I extend my sympathies to Mr Ed.
My suggestion to help distract from the aches and pains is to lock the cats in the kitchen and put on old, favourite movies. I have worked my way through LOCAL HERO, BRASSED OFF, FULL MONTY, all three series of BETWEEN THE LINES, SAME TIME NEXT YEAR and am just about to dig out ELIZABETH (the Cate Blanchett one)
Best wishes to all those Bloggers feeling under the weather.
Right, that's the convincing sickie thrown Eric -- where are we off to for this little break? I've packed for all eventualities... ;-)
Eddie-
Take care.

Poor you Eddie. Take your cue from Mr Butler and enjoy being sick. You could perhaps watch some old videos of Time Commanders like I've been doing. And not a rugby shirt in sight it has to be said.
* err - this was really really not maliciously rapidly typed.
Hope you feel better soon Eddie.
Look - sorry to be unsympathetic (my family tell be I am horrible when they are sick) but I have had about as much of the sick today, here at the hospital, as I can take.
Now Mr Mair (we don't know each other well enough for 1st name terms - you may call me Matron), make sure you drink plenty, lots of sleep, alternating with reality TV to numb the mind, and you will feel lots better soon.
Yours in empathetic fatigue
M x
Well these are all very kind comments. Clearly I am not one to exaggerate the extent of my illness, though I did toy with the idea of starting a thread called The Pine Box.... I'll be back tomorrow
So when you were talking about your "very very very serious illness" last week, & we all thought you were joking, you mean you were really ill? And you struggled in to work yesterday? Oh dear, I feel suitably chastened for mocking you. And hope you are feeling better now.
However... speaking as a freelancer, (whence cometh no sickpay whatsoever as you may know), I do notice that people who get sick pay are ill more often than I am. The only time I have been absent from work is when I have been in hospital. On the other hand, people are not paying to hear my dulcet tones like they are yours, so I guess if you can't speak, you can't work. Maybe there's a place for a mimed PM show via the webcam, with signing added ? You've tried most things, but I've not seen that yet.
Now I shall listen to Carolyn & see if she's nodded off during one of the taped reports yet...
Oh I've just realised - you're not ill at all, are you? You've just been gagged by the MOD. You never should have tried to type that letter to us yesterday.
I suppose you didn't know about your illness until it had happened, either.
Don't worry, we believe you.
Awww, Eric, what's wrong? It's obviously not flu in the fingers, unless you're typing with your toes.
I make a mean hot whisky (learned in Glasgow, perfected and re-spelled in Belfast).
Chilli and peanut butter soup! That's my answer.
You realise you now owe Carolyn one when she's too poorly to do Today...
Get well soon
Kx
Eddie, whisky gargle - terrible thing to do to good scotch but it does work, and you can always drink the rest! Get well soon.
I find the best cure for any illness is plenty of sex, which, on the downside I suppose, would make Peter Stringfellow immortal. God I feel rough.
Get Well Soon.
Well, Eddie, it is now midnight, and I sincerely hope you are safely tucked up in your warm bed and sound asleep, knowing that all your friends here on the Blog are wishing you well.
Sleep tight!
Hope you're feeling better this morning, Eddie. I suugest copious amounts of hot lemon, honey and ginger during the day. Add whisky only if you are sure you are defininitely, positively, absolutely sure you're too ill to work today......but remember Sequin's being taken advantage of!
Re my (7) I shall never mock you for being off sick again Eddie - I'm feeling poorly today. Serves me right?!
