I know it's early

Eddie Mair | 07:25 UK time, Thursday, 31 May 2007

but I'm here before dashing off on another bit of work. Carolyn is in my line of vision in the studio doing Today. Martha is already here reading in for The World at One, and Rupert - yes, our Rupert - is editing WATO today.

We're all in for a treat.

Another bit of work? An appearance on C4's 'How to look good n*k*d'? That would cheer up the Blog ladies!

Does this mean that the hotseat will be filled by someone else this evening? If so, who? Sequin's already done the early shift.

It's not HIGNFY for The Great Mair as it is the Great Moira (Stuart) presenting this weeks edition. Foolishly pushed aside from her news reading role on ´óÏó´«Ã½ One may I say in favour of alledgely we "expect our newspresenters to be more then just newsreaders they have to have jounralistic skils". Have you seen some of those, dare I use the term, bimbos on News 24 - and that's just the men! They can't even interview other jornos let alone conduct an indepth interview.

I seem to recall Moira started her career on Radio. Can we bring her back to Radio 4?

Sorry for the rant - its'been a difficult day down here on the Sunshine coast.

Anyway it must be dusting the DG's office for Eric then? I think we should be told

I haven't seen her on that for a few weeks now. And I haven't seen/heard a report from Hillary Anderson in a long while. Where's she posted now, Eddie?

I cannot believe that in this hive of gossip & intrigue, you lot didn't know Sarah Montague is off because she's having another baby! I mean, where have you all been ? I happened to catch her last appearance on Today, months ago, when John H said "And now you're going because you're having a baby". No hint of whether she was planning to return afterwards. Indeed, is there a space left for her? Or has our esteemed friend Miss C Quinn taken over completely, as part of her plan for future world domination?

Many thanks - it's only been there for x00 years and you're the first to bring to my attention. so much for the marketing significance of the www.

And Val P I very much appreciate your input and perhaps you could suggest the correct grammatical way to describe the work what I do - as Sir Ernest Wise may have put it.

What all this has to do with the PM programme escapes me but it sure makes for an entertaining afternoon. And has anyone discovered what the Great Mair was doing so early one morning? Moira was a huge success at the HIGNFY recording (according to media.guardian) so she may be lost to newsreading for ever

Nikki Noodle - How can you be confused by something that is so straightforward?

btw - I suspect the real Escort Ford will not stand up immediately as they are on holidays in the country with sheep. That is in the country that has a lot of sheep and not actually holidaying with sheep. Your are following this, aren't you?

As for Princess Austin - well, this is a very sad story and you shouldn't make light of it. See for details.

I can confirm that Capri is indeed near Naples.

    Now, was there anything else?
