Is it just me or has everyone else lost the jpegs? (pictures)
Cant comment on audio but read news letter e mail thingy just arrived. And on the subject of wine...
Talking to the owner of my favorite restaurant recently. (shamless plug via this link)
He was telling me that the best seal to a wine bottle is probably a crown cork. Think bottles of beer folks
Does not look the same when opening a bottle though :-(
Regarding bullock Shambo - people working in the health care professions have to have a 'recent' tuberculin test. If it comes up positive, it is likely to mean immunity to TB, and certainly not necessarily illness.
Historically, active TB in humans has become less common when lack of sanitation and overcrowding were addressed. I think it is safe to assume that animals in intensive farming units - unlike Shambo's living conditions - are also less likely to throw off early tubercle infection. The widespread flooding that this country has suffered recently is arguably also the result of the way people live - too many of us, living in the way that we do with our huge carbon footprints. And now there are no doubt justifiable fears of serious infections arising as the result of incapacitated sanitation systems. Which do you suppose presents the most serious, enduring, and immediate threat to our health - Shambo in his pen isolated from the food chain, and apparently very well, or flooded areas of this country? If this group of Hindu monks are overruled by the use of force, then I for one am ashamed to be one of the (ignorant) indigenous white British population.
Sharon (4),
Hear! Hear! Intensification and crowding are the source of disease. When we were gatherer/hunters, we had few diseases and a varied diet. Settling down and living indoors on a much less diverse diet have brought us to the present pass.
The next big mistake was getting hold of fire (Zeuss was right!), because we began sitting up all night and talking bulls-it.
The next was allowing accountants to invent writing and lawyers to adopt it.
Then there was James Watt and his devilish invention and the pace quickened with Alex Bell's diabolic device, the misguided Cycle-making Wright boys, ....
