that I accidentally started the PM Blog.
Since then, all our lives have been changed, for the worse.
We were wondering whether and how to mark the occasion. A few crappy ideas have been tossed around. As were some salads. But I tend to think the best ideas for the Blog come from you. And if not you then someone like you.
We thought - first anniversary...paper? First birthday...are we out of nappies yet?
You can do better than that. But hurry!

Sorry to be picky (actually, I'm not, but it's usually best to say you are), but it's the Merkins who have paper for the first anniversery. The traditional British gift is cotton, with paper for the second anniversery.

A PM coffee mug. Since a lot of us seem to sit at the computer blogging with a drink beside us. If it wasn't such a showy-offy idea, I'd say get some of your better quotes emblazoned on the side. Maybe you've forgotten them, but I'm sure jonnie's got them listed somewhere :)
Can we have a picnic at lunchtime on the 17th? I'll be in London anyway. We could all bring our finest-quality extortionately -priced sandwiches & gather outside TVCentre (wherever that is) & you could cower inside, finally sending young Marc outside as a sort of sacrifice to the bloggers. Perhaps bearing a note - "Please go away now & leave me in peace, I've got a show to do, love from Eddie"- that the sort of thing you had in mind?
Now you're really scared, aren't you? Because last time I had a crazy idea involving the bloggers, we really did it....
Btw, forgot to say - how dare that Robin Hamman have a full page interview on p 15 of Ariel, all about the great idea of bbc blogs, & NOT mention the PM Blog? Doesn't he know who you ARE????

Witchi - as it happens the FRog song will be ready for general blog release on Friday 17th of August - how fitting.
Why not, Jonnie? Is the old theatre on Shepherds Bush Green still used by the Beeb? I remember going there many a time to participate in TV recordings.
I'm sure Eddie would be just as thrilled(!) to go to the local St*rbucks, or similar, though.
There are some good pubs around there, too. I could research that if you like?
How about OB from Jonnies Breakfast room? He has the streaming capability so we can see the show live. Guests can wait in his reception so we can see them sweat. Glass box can be front door. Its too short a notice to arrange an event, except a virtual one on the beach.
Never got my frog chorus thing sorted. perhaps just as well knowing my voice.
It would be interesting to mark it with some comment on how audience participation in this way has or hasn't changed the content and delivery of the programme apart from winning you a Sony award.
Somehow a post has got lost - But I suggested we book the theatre on the Green at Shepherds Bush, or a nearby coffee lounge (thinking of Eddie here!) or one of the better pubs thereabouts .......

Whether or not there is an actual frog meet, the celebration needs to be something everyone can join in with, like the blog itself.
Souvenirs would be fun but someone would have to organise - do the beeb have a department for such things? Sales to a good cause perhaps?
The Froggers song is a must.
Eddie perhaps you should select some froggers, original, regular and new, at random for an item on air?
Also it would be interesting to know just whether it really is the unique blog we believe it to be. Some research into what else is out there would be interesting. To get everyone's ideas in you might just have to hope for a slow news day!

I can't remember who posted it or where but it would be interesting to now how much of an impact the Frog has had on how the programme is put together. Ok, back to be flippant...
A Flippancy of Froggers...hmm, no, discounts or deep and meaningful side(s).
A mair of froggers.
Perhaps there should be several names, depending on aspects of the gathering.
A meeting of froggers at 5pm could be an "ice" of froggers.
A meeting between Noon and 2pm (but sometimes a day late) could be a "newsletter" of froggers.
A meeting on a day off could be a "sequin".
And one frogger meeting alone but speaking in an animated fashion could be a "webcam"...
A little earlier, the SSC mentioned blog cotton. I always understood her to be a character in... Oh no, silly me.

Here's my 2p worth of photo ideas...
1) A group photo of the PM blog team.
2) As (1), including Sequin.
3) As (2), including Carrie (So what if she's only stood in for you twice? Make her feel welcome - then if you ever feel you need a break / holiday, you know there are two pairs of safe hands to look after your "baby"...)
4) As above, including whoever came up with the "Let's start a ´óÏó´«Ã½-wide blog trial" idea.
5) In advance of the date, set up a place where froggers can upload photos of themselves. Then kidnap the ´óÏó´«Ã½ web boffins until they've merged the froggers' photos into the group picture...
A couple of other ideas:
Start an 'anniversary' beach, and encourage as many members of the team as possible to contribute something (even if it's only feeding the camels!).
Or a competition to draw The Beach (possibly not, as not all froggers are amateur artists!)

I suppose whatever is done has to be "revenue neutral". So T shirts, mugs etc are probably a none starter. Unless a sponsor can be found. I presume the PM budget will be a bit tight. After all Windows of your worls trashed the storage capabilities at the Beeb. At almost 50000 posts this blog must be a bit of a nightmare. I bet the IT guys gringe every time eric has a little idea.
Sorry to have been absent ... we broke the Internet on Friday, chez Fifi, and have only just repaired it.
I think a networky hookup via the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s regional and international studios would be perfect: everyone then has a fair chance to participate, regardless of distance from London.
A package taped during The Day itself, and edited as a news story - just like any other, including the Sony - and made available afterwards as an audio clip via the Blog. Interviews with a Blog Queen or Prince and a frogger, and a quick burst of The Song.
Would also make a smashing feature in Ariel. Showing the rest of the Beeb how to do a blog properly!
Perhaps one lucky frogger to be invited to spend the day at TVC, not getting in the way of the team putting the programme together of course.
And that frogger to represent all of us in a group photo with the PM and Frog team, which we can all print off and feel a part of.
I have another BIG idea involving the Song and a good cause.
