Is there a Blog Blockage?

Post categories:

Eddie Mair | 13:37 UK time, Monday, 10 September 2007

Am curious. Earlier posting not here.

In any case, we have set ourselves an artificial deadline of Thursday night to come up with our choice of title for the new programme.

Stand by.

    Oh, BLOG blockage...

    Sorry, mis-read the headline...

According to Marc, the blog has been working fine ....... According to the Froggers, there have been on/off problems for a while.

Trouble is, the problems are intermittent and don't seem to follow a pattern, which makes it difficult to pin them down.

    I blame the kitten.*

[Which kitten? - I know and he knows, does anybody care to guess?]

Big sister @ 2 (probably - it hasn't been published *yet*)

I wouldn't go so far as to say the blog is "fine". I think "not as bad as it has been on occasions in the past/not so bad that it's causing me real headaches but also not so good that everything is wonderful with it"

Unless that's your definition of "fine"...!

Apologies, Marc, if I'd misinterpreted you - but, truly, there have been a series of intermittent problems of late, ranging from blog amnesia (i.e. not remembering froggers), through posts not appearing, passing by malicious warnings when you haven't posted for up to a day, Recent Comments getting 'stuck', and various other irritating variations.

Yet, in between times, the posts appear quickly (well, certainly today!).

Don't misunderstand me, though, I know you do what you can to get it right, but it's interesting that Eddie, too, has problems.

I think the most frustrating thing at present is the unpredictability of it.

We're thinking of asking some external consultants about the whole thing. And having lots of meetings about it.

Ok - I know he hasn't presented PM but can he not record one of your 'voices' - along with the Dan Damon - Val S - Joan B etc... selection?

Well our dect phone works well anyway - and don't they make trains.

I mean the blog is usually fine -

Except when it sends us to room 502

Oh and when it forgets who we are -

and when it tells us we are malicious

    and when it crawls along

and when the posts disappear - or never appear

and when it gows blue overnight.

or takes us back to some random Month of it's choosing.

    ... and Siemens build trains!

Frances O - Full story under "1b The New Programme" in "Categories" at top of the thread.

btw , did you know that you had a strapline the other day? Now, the next thing that you are going to ask me is " What was it?" and the next thing I am going to say is: "I wish you hadn't asked me that." But it was good and almost unforgettable!

    Thanks!

btw, when I get around to downloading my holiday pics, and if it's come out, there's one which may amuse you...

Oh, blast about the strapline; Marc will just have to use it again (pretty please, O great prince)

Frances O - I await to be amused then!

The strapline was only the other day - all Straplines in September have been new ones - ask on the beach and someone will have remembered.

I have just heard the 'Green X Code man again - GR8
I recently scolded my 18year old for getting out of the car and crossing infront of it !!!
I reminded her of the dangers of doing so as drivers are not expecting people to cross in between parked cars.
Well perhaps we do now a days, as most roads are now full of parked cars.
This incident reminded me of 'the' green X code, and I had wrongly assumed that she had been taught it years ago.
Perhaps it needs updating a little, maybe the 'green X dude' might be more street credible, rather than the man in tights! However just as necessary for this generation as it was for mine.
