In the light of all the millions we've been promised on this Blog
from scammers - I wonder if you've seen ?
Also: the ´óÏó´«Ã½ has just announced this:
"Nick Clarke, the highly popular former presenter of Radio 4's The World at One who died in November last year, is to have a new award launched in his honour.
The Nick Clarke Award will be awarded to the single best broadcast interview conducted each year. The winner will receive five bottles of good claret - a prize which reportedly Clarke himself would have approved of.
The award will be launched at this year's Cheltenham Literature Festival by Radio 4 controller Mark Damazer at The Nick Clarke Debate on Saturday 6 October 2007.
The first Nick Clarke Award will cover interviews conducted between 31 July 2007 and 31 July 2008 with the winner will announced at next year's Cheltenham Literature Festival in October 2008."
I have been trying to get onto the Beach for a coffee at the NC bar but what do you know it's gone 502 crazy.
1450 UPDATE: The Controller of Radio 4 - Mark something - will record an interview with us this afternoon and you can hear it at 1754.
So will choose what Interviews to submit from PM.
Moreover who will decide the best interview. A panel of judges from the media - no doubt including including Gillian Reynolds :-( or us, the listeners, where we can interactively vote?

I'll vote for Chris Evans.
A fitting tribute to the man, I think
I think that's a lovely idea.
I'll vote for Chris Evans.
My vote goes to Shaun Ley - sorry Eddie.
what happens if the interviewer is tee total.
Oh! We are talking reporters here :-)
And why five and not a case?
What about including Nick's widow on the judging panel? She impressed me, and I am delighted that Nick is to be remembered in this way.
Fantastic news that someone is finally nabbing the fraudsters in Nigeria!
My glum wee 502'd heart is soaring.
Fifi
PS maybe the Beach will be better when we GET THE NEW ONE, as didn't happen last week?
Fifi (10) yes we've asked lots of times but not had an answer - I wonder if it's just down to the bloggage?
The Nick Clarke Award is a lovely idea, I wonder what criteria will be used for judging?
It's amazing how so many froggers have excellent blogs - which attract a great number of comments - and clearly work!
If Eddie doesn't have the pull to convinve the bosses at the Beeb that this needs to get fixed - and with priority - then perhaps - it should be stalled in it's tracks - and an alternative platform used - until this actually works.
It's becoming so hit and miss that many thoughts - and responses - are no longer viable.
Five bottles of claret heading to the beach next autumn courtesy of Eddie, then. Don't let us down!
Eddie. Yours of John Bolton by a street and a half.
And runner up, your on - the - hoof single question to Greg Dyke during Any Questions from Stamford. He, expansive about political possibilities. You, checking him for personal ambition. Him, red faced. (I was in the front row of the audience).
PS How come so many complaints about the blog get through from regulars and so few comments from them?
yours 'till the blog works well again
mac
I think Jeremy Paxman has set the early benchmark with his 'Beautiful' Bob Ainsworth interview, so at least you guys have a target to aim at...
I am told that the bloggage is caused by spam.
I believe this, but I would have thought that since spam is a huge proportion of all emailstuff, it ought to have been fixed by now.
This has been an attempted public service announcement: as mac says, complaints get through, sensible posts mostly don't so I fully expect a 502 at least.
Good lord, it went straight through!
(later) but didn't appear. Oh well.
(later) but didn't appear. Oh well. And when I sent this it was thanked and told it was being held, and *then* given a malicious warning when i rtried to come back to the thread.
*sigh*
Do I believe this is the work of spammers?
Interesting to see people talking about bloggages... after days of almost giving up on posting after a sequence of:
1) Click Submit
2) Wait 30 seconds
3) Still "Waiting for www.bbc.co.uk..."
4) Press Escape
5) Repeat steps 1-4 until:
6) "Comment Submission Error".
7) Click Back
8) Repeat steps 1-5 until either (6) or:
9) Success (at last!)
However, touch wood (pats a nearby table), it seems to be OK this evening - two posts accepted first time. Will this join them?
(No - decided to give me a (6) after 10 seconds!)
(2nd time: another (6))
(3rd time: after waiting a few minutes - yes!)
I've been posting and walking away. I have the benefit of two pc's at work. Often room 502 messages get through. But it does feel like a bit of a lottery.
Oh and if I'm only on one pc I post and open a new tab (opera for new explorer page). At least then you cab follow other threads or actually do some other browsing. Or even work!
