Summer and Christmas in one post.
We thank Roberto for our first Christmas card of the year (apart from the late ones that arrived in early January)..
And Vyle sent this postcard of The Sanctuary, Highgrove House, Gloucestershire - "the building is where HRH goes to get away.."
CHRISTMAS CARDS ALREADY!!
Roberto - beautiful though it is - do you not think it's a little premature?
Gosh, HRH's retreat looks like the gingerbread house from Hansel and Gretel.
What is the chimney for on the side of the building I wonder?
Roberto: Felices Navidades. You clearly wanted to make sure you got through the postal strikes in the UK. Well done! I'm beginning to think you're onto something there.
The Sanctuary... otherwise known as the Lav at the "bottom" of the garden..?
Composting loo, I presume, Charlie.
If little green men land in your back yard, hide any little green women you've got in the house.

With all respect to Roberto for his card, but the verse on the front of it is appalling. Scansion - sheesh!
Oh! for the days of quality writing:
My lovely horse running through the field,
Where are you going with your fetlocks blowing in the wind?
I want to shower you with sugarlumps,
And ride you over fences,
Polish your hooves every single day,
And bring you to the horse dentist.
Oh Roberto! Really! We've not even had Hallowe'en yet! ;o)
I'd like to remind everyone that according to Folk Lore the Devil has put his paw on blackberries today, and anyone who gathers or eats them is asking for trouble!!!!
Roberto, I like the card AND the words!
The Intermittent Horse@5
All I can reasonably say is neigh, neigh, thrice times neigh..!
Yes The Intermittent Horse and Frankie :-)
Lovely card Roberto.
Thanks for the advice Gillian, my hand did hover over some particularly fine specimens by the side of the road today when walking Sam - hovered just long enough for me to remember that he isn't the only dog who gets walked along there....yeuch. Is it just today brambles are verboten, or from today onwards?
I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise for not sending a postcard from Staffs last week - I did do a fair bit of travelling to scenic places, and saw many a vaguely pointless card, however I was overcome by the pointlessness of posting anything in the current striking climate :o)
Roberto!!! Christmas must not be spoken of until after my birthday!!! Long-standing froggers may recall that that event will take place next Wednesday: Last year we had the first party on the blog on my birthday (because I harped on about it for about a week before -- notice a pattern here?...) It was before AndyCragg dicovered the beach (that happened in Novemeber). Goodness it all seems so long ago now! How some things have changed irrevocably since.
Nice cards, but forgive me if I don't look at Roberto's until December 1st at the earliest.
Horse (5), Are you psychic? I have those lyrics on my kitchen pinboard. When I have a kitchen again I'll be able to read them there too.
Intermittent Horse @ 5,
Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck in the thunder?
Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils is terrible.
He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in his strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.
He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.
The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.
He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that it is the sound of the trumpet.
He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

I spot RJD. I claim my £5.
