    The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt is not controlled by Egypt. It is governed by an agreement between Israel, the Palestinian Authority, and the EU. Since June, when Hamas took over in Gaza, it has been closed. The EU monitors have left and Israel and Hamas have no contact with each other.

    Ros (7 & 8) may have got the wrong end of the stick. The student interviewed is a Palestinian, from Gaza, studying at Bradford University.

    Susan (10) asks why the student wasn't questioned about the Hamas rocket attacks on Israel. In the interview as broadcast, he says: "As a student I'm not part of the attacks that are taking place on them (Israel). I'm just a student, so we shouldn't be involved in this game." We also gave the spokesman from the Israeli embassy an extra minute of air time to explain Israel's position. It might not sound much but in a four minute item it was a significant proportion of the alloted time.
