It is with dread that I learn that it is 12 months until the American Presidential elections. Please spare us the detailed PM and TODAY commentary and interminable analysis of the minutiae of the process over a whole year. At least limit the output to no more than say two minutes at a time. Otherwise I shall have to listen to the headlines only and switch off for the remainder of these programmes.
By all means offer the listener online commentary for those who are interested, or even dedicate a 15 minute slot each day for coverage - say after midnight - so that those who are really interested can have their needs met by the ´óÏó´«Ã½.
My American friends are not subjected to commentary on the UK elections in anything other than a passing observation here and there on their bulletins. neither are my friends in France and elsewhere.
The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is much prized, but is there not just too much "opinion", "windbaggery" and "pomposity" during these flagship news programmes? Too much comment, not enough news, perhaps?

    I swear I just heard a ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio newsreader refer to Kenya's re-elected President as "President Whacky-Baccy"

    I think I need help...

I know, Piper (2), I know! I can't believe they've had a President Whacky-Baccy there all this time and we never knew!

    GREAT WHITE QUEEN

Do I gather that Kenya is just another part of the world where we drew a line round more than one tribe and decreed "one nation!"? Surely we must now preemptively bomb them flat in case they become part of the terrorist "network of evil"? Or maybe Tony could be seconded from reconciling Jews and Arabs for a couple of days.
