Hugh Sykes
reported for PM from Isfahan on Thursday. Here's why he says he "wishes he could stay there:
The Imam mosque at night and the smaller Sheikh Lotfollah mosque by night and at dawn. They were both built nearly five hundred years ago.
The Imam mosque just after dawn. Students sharing an assignment.
The square is called Naksh-e-Jahan, the Pattern of the World. It was built for Shah Abbas the Great, as the jewel in the crown of his capital city. And here are some shots from closer to, and inside, the Imam mosque.
That's the tile-work on the inside of the main dome. Camera flat on the ground for the wide-angle shot.
Very cheerful family atmosphere. The stereotype is always wrong.
Sigh. I wonder if the ´óÏó´«Ã½ will ever need an Isfahan correspondent......"
