More from Paddy at Eurovision.
"Watching two dancers on stilts limber up in the wings, I noticed a cat
sauntering by. Then another. All watched by scores and scores of men
in uniform. A Ukranian backing dancer dressed in silver gladiators garb
just collided with a Russian army officer. Their hats are enormous.
Spent last night walking around the centre of Moscow, looking for a bar
called Club Millie. I swear a car drove by at one hundred miles an
hour, pursued vaguely by an old-style Panda car.
We talk to one of our hosts, Sergei of Eurovision, and he talks to us of
Manchester United.
Watch this space: As a gay-friendly event, there is all a stark
contrast with the city's own view of gay rights. Politicians don't like
gay public displays. A couple of years ago in advance of a planned
Pride march, a Muslim cleric was quoted as saying the paraders should
be "thrashed by decent people"."
