Just back from recording the trail at Speakers' Corner.
Read why here.
And here is the script. I changed it a little. Paddy recorded three versions...one close up, one not quite so close up and one half a mile away.
"Fi, you join me at Speakers' Corner at Hyde Park in London.
Every Sunday morning this place is teeming - there are the crowds who come to listen, and the people who stand on boxes and crates and hold forth with their ideas on improving the world. For more than a hundred years it's been a Sunday morning fixture.
This raises two important questions. Firstly, why am I recording this trail on Friday morning?
And secondly, do you have to come here once a week to hear interesting ideas? The answer to that second question is no.
As the House of Commons prepares to elect a new Speaker, this week on PM, we're holding a Speaker Week. On consecutive nights, four people will put forward their ideas on cleaning up public life and restoring collective faith in the system. On Friday's PM, all four will take part in a debate, and then you and all the other listeners can vote by phone for the person whose ideas you like best.
It's a serious debate for serious times, please don't be put off by this ridiculous trailer.
That's Speaker Week, all this week on Eddie Mair's PM with me Eddie Mair.
Back to you Terry"
