Death.

Eddie Mair | 09:41 UK time, Monday, 21 September 2009

We had a lot of emails about "good deaths".

I liked this one especially:

A farmer friend always joked about how he would prefer to end his days. "Ideally", he said, "Alone, fully clothed, out of doors and quickly".

He had eighty odd years of excellent health and was a very happy man
The evening before he died he taken his grandchildren for a wonderful treat at the local speedway and had his usual nightcap before bed. He was up as normal at six thirty, checked that milking had started and walked a mile or so to see his beef cattle as he did every morning.
He was found dead in the field with his bulls standing guard around his body.
The official cause of death was a massive cerebral haemorrhage, death would have been instantaneous.
His friends always say he died of an overdose of contentment.
