Illegal gardener?

Eddie Mair | 16:50 UK time, Tuesday, 22 September 2009

Jonathan Chamberlain from the Employment Lawyers Association joins us tonight with some advice for listeners who employ cleaners/gardeners etc, in the light of the Baroness Scotland story. baronessscotland.JPG

He tells us that whether or not you have to check your cleaner's immigration status depends on whether you employ him or her. Working out employment status is complicated. There is no simple rule.

Are you concerned you could be employing someone illegally? Please leave a comment.

However, there is government guidance .
