On Saturday's PM, Dr Matthew Roberts from the Icelandic Meteorlogical Office spoke just before he was about to fly over the volcano which is causing such trouble. Well he emailed us later on Saturday.

"I returned this evening from a scientific overflight of the erupting Eyjafjallajokull volcano in Iceland. I have enclosed three photographs that I took during the flight, which took place between 16:00 and 18:00 GMT, 17 April.

The photographs illustrate the tremendous volume of fine-grained volcanic ash that is streaming from the eruption site.

You are welcome to use these images in any ´óÏó´«Ã½ media outlet, but please credit me as the photographer.

Sincerely,

Dr Matthew J. Roberts
Glaciologist
Icelandic Meteorological Office"
