New ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 4 Controller announced.

"The new Controller of Radio 4 and Radio 7 is to be Gwyneth Williams, who was until recently director of the ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service's English programming. She will take over in the autumn from Mark Damazer, who is moving after six years to become head of St Peter's College Oxford.

As Director of ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service English, Gwyneth Williams has been responsible for all the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s international radio programmes in English. Before that as head of ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio Current Affairs and editor of the Reith Lectures, she was in charge of programmes such as File on 4, Analysis, From Our Own Correspondent, Crossing Continents, and In Business. She started her career as a trainee at the ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service. The ´óÏó´«Ã½'s head of audio and music Tim Davie said she was a passionate supporter of Radio 4 and brought vast experience to one of the biggest jobs in broadcasting. Gwyneth Williams said Radio 4 represented the ´óÏó´«Ã½ at its best and it was a privilege to be asked to lead it."
