Another week, another film in 3D.

Scrub that - another TWO films in 3D.

Yep, I'm talking about family animation How To Train Your Dragon and ancient Greek epic Clash Of The Titans. Two big movies for the Easter hols and both pretty cool, despite the first featuring the voice of Gerry Butler and the second featuring the line 'They are soldiers from Argos!'. Wow, I've never seen them in the catalogue.

But here's my point. Are we getting too many 3D films? Do we really need them? Why don't the glasses ever feel comfortable? (Maybe that's just me and my problematically shaped boxer's nose).

The crucial fact here is, Clash Of The Titans wasn't even going to be in 3D until the success of Avatar. It wasn't filmed as such and no-one expected it to be. Then out comes Cameron's 'Pocahontas In Space' and all of a sudden the producers of Clash wanted to spend a few million on the 3D conversion process. I'm sure they'll get their money back.

But watch it and there's no real reason for it to be in three dimensions. The action is intense, the scenery breathtaking, Gemma Arterton's legs smokin' - but there's never a point when you really immerse yourself in the 3D. Why should you? It's just been used as a late gimmick to give an extra whammy of publicity to an already entertaining movie.

We all know that Hollywood is out there to make money and I'm never going to have a go at that. But if we as movie fans are going to spend our (extra) money on the multitude of 3D films coming out of Tinseltown over the next few years, then let's actually get something different out of the experience. Avatar immersed you another world - with James Cameron spending 8 years on the project, you'd expect nothing less. At the other end of the scale, trashy horror such as Final Destination 3D also had fun with the process, playing out like a fairground novelty but still delivering the goods.

At least you felt 3D had a point. Too many more quick cash-ins though and we'll lose patience, however good the actual film.

The Blind Side - horribly icky true life tale of a smarmy Memphis family who foster a homeless black teenager and teach him their ways. Massive in the States and Sandra Bullock won an Oscar - but that doesn't mean much. Think about it a bit and this does as much for race relations as Big Momma's House did for fat people. 2 stars

Nanny McPhee & The Big Bang - gloriously magical family movie, with the mysterious nanny helping another family sort out their lives. Set during the 2nd World War, this has emotional bite as well as big laughs - a perfect combo I reckon. 5 stars.

Perrier's Bounty - lightweight caper pic about a Dublin layabout trying to scrabble cash together to pay off a gang boss. Plenty of fruity Irish dialogue make this fun but it could have done with a bit more punch to really keep you gripped. With Cillian Murphy. 3 stars.Ìý

Who wants to see some exclusive images?

This time, we've got 2 exclusive images from Date Night out on 21st April (check out the trailer ). What's it all about i hear you ask? Well, thanks for asking, i'll tell you. It's about a couple (Tina Fey and Steve Carell) whose regular date nights have become a bit routine. So to try and make it more exciting they go to a restaurant where a case of mistaken identity turns their evening a bit topsy-turvy. 'citing'.

And as if that wasn't enough, we're going to give you a clip from Paranormal Activity which is also out on DVD this week. Somehow, even without much happening, it manages to be spooky in this short clip (so beware!). Wowzers.

Hello movie bloggers! It's been a little while since we last spoke but we are back. Hoorah!

So what better way to spend a Thursday than to look at some brand new characters from the forthcoming Toy Story 3 which is out on 23rd July (you can watch the trailer ).

First up, check out this little fella - his name is Mr Pricklepants and we think he's a hedgehog. We also think he's wearing Peter Pan's hat:

We wouldn't mess with Sparks. He looks kinda angry.

GREEN ZONE - Matt Damon struggles to sort fact from fiction in war-torn Baghdad, with his Bourne director Paul Greengrass ramping up the tension as the bullets fly. Awesome stuff. 5 stars.

SHUTTER ISLAND - No Leo DiCaprio/Martin Scorsese collaboration is going to be a complete fail, but this stupidly overblown tale of a missing inmate at a remote prison hospital is full of B-movie twists that hardly suit a mega-budget epic from a movie maestro. 3 stars.

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO - Gutsy thriller based on the blockbusting book. The wilds of Scandanavia has never looked more threatening as a hungry journo and a punky computer hacker join forces to track down a murderer in the snowy Swedish outback. 4 stars.

HACHI: A DOG'S TALE - Soppy but gently done story of a music professor and his faithful pet pooch. Watching Richard Gere have a bath with his four legged friend may be a bit weird but by the weepy final 20 minutes you'll be blubbing big time. 3 stars.

Colin Farrell joins Edith for a chat about his new movie Ondine:

Its Tuesday, and that means we bring you trailers. Hence the name. It's really very simple. Up for your consideration this week are two movies which you'd firmly put in the 'romance drama' bracket (Dear John) and 'comedy ensemble' bracket (Grown Ups) so depending on what kind of Tuesday you're having take your pick...

First up is Grown Ups. It stars Adam Funny People Sandler, Salma Ugly Betty Hayek, Kevin Paul Blart Mall Cop James, Chris Madagascar 1&2 Rock and Rob Deuce Bigalow Schneider. It's all about what happens when a load of old school mates meet up as adults. Hilarity, as you would expect, ensues.
