After the disruption caused by the weather last week it's nice to be back in the office. George is up in Manchester today meeting R&D and academic colleagues to discuss possible partnerships, whilst those of us in the office try our best to ignore the drilling that has resumed in the hotel next door. Theo is finishing the Autumnwatch demo video he's put together and Chris N, Paul and I are discussing the fallout from the infrastructure move last week. A "top 10 ideas for storytelling" chart has appeared on the office wall which is soon filled with a collection of interestingly titled post-its.

Augmented Reality film launches at the Natural History Museum

The in London have just opened an interactive film called in the new lecture theatre. The film was produced in conjunction with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Natural History unit, and they were keen to make it more than just a conventional video presentation. They approached us at ´óÏó´«Ã½ R&D to see if technology we'd previously developed for adding 'virtual' graphics to TV could be adapted to produce an augmented reality element for the film.Ìý The end result is an innovative museum experience that makes use of our camera tracking technology, in conjunction with specially-designed handheld displays and rendering software developed by other partners in the project, to bring extinct creatures to life using augmented reality.Ìý

I’ve been away so am fighting jet-lag. Its great to be back and see all the excellent recent work coming together. Joanne has been finishing off the templates to hand over to A&M for the radio DNS slideshow user testing. Paul does some collaborative bid application form hacking. We work up the Internet Dashboard spec and data sources.
