Expenses - MPs begin Operation Payback

Richard Moss | 16:41 UK time, Tuesday, 13 October 2009

mandelsonhand226x282.jpgGetting more details on expenses all the time.

Latest is Harrogate's Lib Dem MP Phil Willis.

He's repaying £3,230 he claimed for cleaning.

Phil Willis has consistently claimed more than the new £2,000 annual limit imposed by Sir Thomas Legg.

He's urged other MPs to pay up in a similarly quick fashion.

Easington Labour MP John Cummings is also paying back £2,500 for cleaning claims.

That's the amount he claimed above the new limit for the last five years.

Lord Mandelson is repaying £800 in gardening expenses for the time when he was Hartlepool's MP.

But Scarborough and Whitby Conservative Robert Goodwill is in the clear.

He claimed nothing for gardening and cleaning last year and no other claims are being queried.
