I delighted in Brian Sewell's passion for dogs especially since it was so unexpected. I utterly share this passion and have my second rescue dog called Sweep. He adores me and the feeling is mutual. This is not something I would share with other people which is why I enjoyed Mr Sewell's story so much. Thank you.
Complain about this postI loved this piece, too. A totally unexpected side to Brian Sewell, and beautifully done giving me a real feel for how close he feels to the dogs, past and present. Although I can't say that i'd grieve more for a dog than a person - luckily not having suffered a major personal human bereavement - I do relate to his strong feelings for dogs, particularly when he described the shooting of his first dog, which must have been very hard to take.
Complain about this postThank you for this piece on Brian Sewell. I had to have my dog put to sleep on Wednesday and was feeling guilty for grieving over a dog. Jake was a three-legged rescue dog who was about 7 or 8 when we got him nearly 8 years ago. During this time he was my constant companion and supporter and now greatly missed. Brian Sewell has gone up immeasurably in my opinion. I always new he was a very clever gentleman but to find he has such depth of soul and cares for dogs is gratifying.
Complain about this postBrian described the shooting of his childhood dog - this was an appalling act that made very moving radio, and gave the listeners a real insight into the making of the man. I can empathise with his love of these innocent, faithful creatures, and have not really recovered from leaving my dog Dinky in Australia as a teenager. She was a rough collie cross - I remember her still, with love, though I last saw her 30 years ago...
Complain about this postA wonderful piece of radio - thank you.
I've just been staying at home waiting for something to happen. Whatever. Not much on my mind lately. I guess it doesn't bother me.
