Jenny Froude
Jenny Froude's son Tom survived meningitus when he was a baby but, as a result, was left profoundly deaf. Jenny wrote to us telling us the two pieces of music she would like immortalised: Rachmaninov: Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini and Pachelbel: Canon.
I've heard other versions of Pachelbel, but it's never moved me as much as when accompanied by your moving words...

Complain about this postSleepily listening to the programme whilst enjoying a lie-in, my attention was caught by Jenny's contribution. I too love these two pieces of music, but her reason for wanting to include Pachelbel left me feeling deeply touched. I shall not hear this now without thinking of their bravery. I do wish them every happiness in this life.

So glad you remember the tape Hazel. It's called Hush-a-Bye (RCA Red Seal RK 42751) and it seems extraordinary to me now that it was compiled by Michele Clements, a research fellow in audiological medicine!
Thanks to all who wrote about my choice of Inheritance Tracks. I only wish Tom had been able to hear the programme with us!
