Manly Hugs
last week Fi promised that that would be the last blog. there was some truth in what she said. it was the last blog she was going to write. this however is officially the last ever blog. next week ms. glover will launch the all-singing, all-dancing Saturday Live newsletter. so it is left to me to let the blog drift slowly off into the night, like a burning Viking raft sent off to some cyber Valhalla...
Cracking show this week. A lovely "If Only I'd Known" about an over-optimistic FA Cup engraver. We speak to Lauren St John about her idyllic childhood in war-torn Rhodesia and hear about the secret life of a former Dr Who.
All this in the same week I spent a couple of days at a dance club in Blackpool and fly off to India to cook and travel.
I intend be be very much Live on saturday. That's why they call it Saturday Live.
big love and a manly hug,
hardeep (aka Fi Glover-lite)
Please have Hardeep Singh Kohli on every week. He has just the right tone - funny, dry and warm without ever sounding smug. He's hilarious, and everyone in this family hopes we will get lots more of him on the radio and tv.

Complain about this postWHY OH WHY OH WHY OH WHY...
Why do the people who maintain the radio 4 website confuse "Saturday Live" with "Saturday Review"???
deserve naming and shaming
Complain about this postSo much better than the shrieking of Fi Glover
Complain about this postNot so much "better than the shrieks of Fi Glover", but certainly Hardeep is different and a refreshing change. I'm a great believer in choice and variety, so I'm happy with both Fi and Hardeep, but please don't suggest we should discard one in favour of the other. It's a bit like having John McCarthy and Sandi Toksvik on the Excess Baggage programme, both gems in their own right.
Appreciative regards
David
Complain about this postA fabulous show today. Hardeep is a match for John Peel, (much missed). JP's successors were never up to the mark in my opinion and I like Fi Glover but loved the show today. An incredible mix of humour and emotion. Funny that I was driven to write this only to find several listeners feel the same. He's obviously 'hit the spot' with Saturday listeners. Please keep him a regular feature. PS I've never sent comments in but felt driven to today.
Complain about this postHardeep's running of the last show was a delight; funny in his unique whimsical way, but also humane, compassionate and capable of real depth. This is such a refreshing and appealing combination that I hope we hear a lot more of Mr Sing Kohli in the days (and decades) ahead!
Complain about this postFi Glover is a gem and one of the very few broadcaster's I will actually make a point of listening to or watching if I notice that she is on. I actually felt a sense of loss when The Travel Show ended on 大象传媒 Two, almost entirely because I looked forward so intensely to Fi's humourous and ascerbic comments each week.
It's rather lame and certainly irrational because I've never met the woman, but I'm so pleased she's back.
