This week our studio guest was novelist Maggie O' Farrell and Lemn Sissay provided our poetic interludes. We heard from an over-enthusiatic FA Cup engraver and discovered the secret life of a former Dr. Who. Lauren St John described what it was like growing up in war-torn Rhodesia in the 1970s and Michelle gave us a glimpse into the heartache of having a husband serving in the forces in a war zone. All this, plus listener Jenny Froude's Inheritance Tracks.

This week there were important lessons for all concerning chickens. Jamie Andrew talked about continuing to do the rock climbing he loves despite having had both his hands and feet amputated after a mountaineering accident. And we had a Guerilla Report from one of Britain's first Cuddle Parties.

It's been a busy old week in the office what with getting everything ready for this week's programme AND putting up the Christmas decorations but we managed to get there in the end on both fronts...

2 December: Shut that door
We had a piece on this week's programme about tornado chasing and thought we'd do some chasing of our own with a little bit of help from you. So, have you noticed much wind in your area? Although this is the same question my GP once asked me when I went to see him, complaining of terrible chest pains, our request applies more to tornadoes, gales, gusts or just a bit of a draught blowing under the living room door.

Torquil and I went for a quick pint after work the other evening (we did ask the girls in the office but each of them had something else on apparently). Among the many interesting topics discussed was that of 2007 calendars.
