The ´óÏó´«Ã½ is celebrating science in 2010. From the highly-praised Wonders of the Solar System with Professor Brian Cox to Bang Goes the Theory and other science tv and radio programmes, along with a revamped website. Not to mention the wealth of content available in our growing Learning Zone clips library (now over 6,000 video and audio snippets from ´óÏó´«Ã½ programmes by the way). There are many things to see and hear on tv, radio and online (or indeed, iPlayer) from the comfort of your chair, sofa or bed (or indeed, sofabed). Do have a look, and do share more.

Getting hands-on and being encouraged to be inquisitive creates a good mindset to discover a world of wonder - in a world where you may think you're meant to know it all already.

Sewing the seeds in school may well create a spark, from the wow-factor to the this-could-get-me-a-job-factor. Enthusing and energising about amazing natural scientific wonders and man-made feats of engineering can only help the interest in the realisation and basic understanding of how things work. There seems to be an ideal grounding for some Curriculum for Excellence projects in there somewhere, from science and religion to art and design, via the scientists, technologists and tv presenters throughout the years.
