Following on from our recent Authors Live events, senior producer Gerald Strother brings you news of another live event run in collaboration with our colleagues from ´óÏó´«Ã½ Wales...

We are pretty excited around these parts because on the afternoon of Tuesday 22 June ´óÏó´«Ã½ Learning Scotland will be hosting a very special Doctor Who event that promises to bring a bit of time travelling adventure to Pacific Quay.

To celebrate the upcoming launch of Blood of the Cybermen, the second Doctor Who Adventure Game, a panel of very special guests will discuss the first game, City of the Daleks as well as the imminent series finale.

There's more about the event over at the Doctor Who website, which is where you'll be able to submit questions to the panel and see the event live online.

And teachers, should you happen to get caught by the Head Teacher watching the event with your class and need a curriculum friendly excuse to justify said decision, here are some videos, taken from our Learning Zone clips library, which are perfect for linking games with the classroom.

First off, there's a film about hand held gaming which looks at the unique design process of the Nintendo DS and some of its games.

Radio Scotland will be a big presence, with favourite shows such as Brian Taylor's Big Debate and Macaulay and Co broadcasting live from the show over the weekend, and for the telly addicts among you, Landward will be recording at the show.

Most exciting for us here in Learning are the LAB and Blast workshops that will be available on Saturday 26th. It's a real chance for any young people attending the show to get a flavour of what's involved in working with media, and especially at a big event like the RHS. You can also get a taste how how to be a sports commentator with the help of and .

´óÏó´«Ã½ Scotland will also be running an event on landscape photography with the renowned photographer . We are currently running a special rephotography initiative where the public are being asked to take pictures of the landscape to see how it has changed. This is part of the new Scotland's Landscape website which will be accompanied by some television programmes later this year.

So keep an eye out as the Show draws closer, as there's plenty happening here at our end!
