Dinosaur Jr appeared at the O2 ABC, Glasgow on 13 May as part of an extensive UK and European tour.

The line-up included frontman J. Mascis, Lou Barlow on bass and from Kyle Spence on drums. Catriona Forrest was there, armed with camera and notepad.

Opening act Built to Spill delivered a great guitar-flooded wall of noise, so when a huge stack of amps were wheeled onto the stage for the headliners it was time to reach for the earplugs.

Despite a set list with a decent mix of old favourites and tracks from their new album sung in Mascis's unmistakeable grunge growl, the tireless bouncing and swinging by bassist Lou Barlow and a fantastic performance from Kyle Spence on drums, Dinosaur Jr received a surprisingly flat response from the audience and returned for a rather despondent single-song encore.
