While Gyles Brandreth looked at the power of political wives and whether they can they make or break their men's careers.

With the news of people living longer, Anita Rani travelled to Liverpool and looked at the gap in life expectancy between two parts of the city.

Plus looking ahead - the National Minimum Wage is increasing - The One Show's been out to find out whether anyone actually knows what it is. Could you live on the minimum wage?

Last week it was Cumbernauld - see the comments about that - this week, Lucy Siegle puts the spotlight on Birmingham Central library.

With autumn nearly upon us Miranda Krestovinikoff gives us tips on what wildlife to look out for. And she travelled to Norfolk and saw how bird-watchers are exploding the myths that Waders leave the UK for sunnier climes.

With the credit crunch well and truly biting, Dom Littlewood looked into the paydays loans, short terms solutions designed to help finances stretch to the end of the month.

The One Show's resident green-fingered goddess Christine Walkden got behind the beetroot. Have you got any great beetroot recipes to share?

In the final film of the Sleep Watch series Michael Mosley explored the concept that the older you get the less sleep you seem to need.

Our former cricketer-turned-art fanatic Phil Tuffnel looked at Sunflowers, in his series on pieces of art that have influenced popular culture.

AndÌýafterÌýgivingÌýJohn aÌýgood send-off naturallyÌýThe One ShowÌýhad to do the same for Christine. Dance partner Matt was also on hand with theÌý'family' toÌýwish Christine goodluck, as she trips the light fantastic withÌýher Strictly Come Dancing first dance. Go Christine!

ÌýTomorrowÌýnight I'm going to be performing my first solo dance on Strictly Come Dancing. It's a foxtrot and I've been rehearsing as much as possible to get right, which has been hard seeing as I also have a full time job on The One Show!Ìý

I'm really excited that the time has now arrived for me perform. John Sergeant did really well last week and I just hope I can keep up the standard he has set! I just want to get on with it now. Matthew and I have such a laugh together so I'm just going to try and enjoy it... but it has been a week of butterflies. I'd be gutted if go on Saturday,ÌýI'll cry!

I really appreciate all your message of support and best wishes on the website, thanks very much. Wish me luck...!

co_cumbernauld_203x152.jpgTonight , king of the jungle and the everyone's favourite panto dame joined Adrian and Christine on the sofa.

We heard from Lucy Siegle who'd visited the town dubbed 'the ugliest town in Britain' Cumbernauld in Scotland.ÌýAnd we asked you to come up with a truthful town slogans, a saying that really reflects the place you live in.

Our man on the street Dom Littlewood was once again looking out for you, this time investigating energy grants. He revealed a new government scheme that more people than you might think might benefit from.

co_dustmites_203x152.jpgAnd on the dawn of a new exhibition marking the 90th anniversary of the WW1 armistice, Gyles Brandreth went to meet a 112-year old veteran, a former RNAS flyer.

ÌýMichael Mosley's sleep watch continued and in the third film we found out about the hundreds of dustmites that can live in your bed- eurgh!

Gethin Jones was the guest on the sofa with Christine and Adrian.

In a TV first, The One Show interviewed a serving MI6 officer on camera.

Our very own Justin Rowlatt, Hardeep Singh Kohli and Lucy Siegle were put through their paces as if they were real candidates.

Watch Justin's exclusive interview footage and read about his experience in the blogs.

Sleep Watch continued, withÌýMichael Mosley met a lady whose night terrors were keeping her up all night.

Did you know that Sherwood Forest was once rich with oil? Neil Oliver uncovered the story of how a group ofÌýOklahoma oil men drilled thousands of barrells of black gold out of the forest.

And we asked for your pictures of cheesy grins. Send us your picsÌýif you can do better than Hardeep, Justin and Michael.

Ìýjoined Adrian & Christine on the sofa.

Our week-long look at the subject of sleep kicked off tonight.

Michael Mosley, our scientific man, follows a doctor who's night shifts are playing havoc with her sleep patterns. We start by finding out whether she'sÌýan owl or a lark?

Plus, we tracked down some Newts and even gotÌýsome in the studio - did you know they're one of the rarest amphibians in Britain? Thanks to conservation groups like they're still thriving in certain areas.

Where else do you get a doctor, former sportsman and musical legend sitting on the same sofa!

joined Adrian and Christine to talk about her long-standing career. Can you believe it's been 40 years since her West End debut in Hair?

Our Dr Sarah Jarvis goes to the one of the noisiest streets in Britain to conduct an experiment by the to find out the impact of people playing their personal stereos and MP3 players too loud.

Our Wildlife Rescue feature with Mike Dilger at Ìýends with us finding out whether the fox does make the recovery, that so many of you were hoping for.

Plus Phil Tufnell looks at the mass market masterpiece that is the . Did you know there are more prints of it than of the Mona Lisa?

And we give John Sergeant a fine send-off as he gears up to start on Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly Come Dancing: Can John Sergeant go far?

He's been called anÌýunlikely candidate for ballroom dancing butÌýThe One Show's John Sergeant's out to proveÌýthe doubters wrong.Ìý

The former political editor's been quoted as saying training for Strictly Come Dancing has been tougher than Vietnam!

He's been training, in the studio for up to five hours a day with his dance partner, Kristina Rihanoff.

But despite all the hours preparation that John's putting in, he's still expectingÌýhis fan base willÌýgrow fromÌý'the sympathy vote'Ìýrather thanÌýfrom the judgesÌýscorecards. ÌýÌý

Will John pull it out the bag and impress the judges? Will age and experience serve him in good stead or count against him?

John, WE think you can do it! Oh and not forgetting Christine, we think you're great too.

The 60's icon Twiggy joined Adrian & Christine, while Anita Rani travelled to the fat hotspot Medway in Kent and found out about a new scheme to tackle obesity called Fat Factor.

The latest in Hardeep Singh Koli's series where he sleeps in the houses of the dead famous - this time it was Thomas Hardy's turn.

Meanwhile it seems the fox with a gut infection featured onÌýourÌýWildlife Rescue films made at touched many of you. In the fourth episode, Mike Dilger found out whether the fox survived and saw how badger cubs learned to feed themselves.

If you've seen something on the show that you'd like to talk about, this is the spot to do it. We'd love to hear from you.

Did you see David Gest on The One Show?

Here on The One Show we pride ourselves on being on time, pity that wasn't the case for our guest, .

As The One Show themeÌýsong played out on your TVs, Producer Paul was having a mare not knowing whether Mr Gest was going to show-up or not.

Never has The One Show had a guest walk on set, lateÌýand so casually, as if he's walking into someone's living room!

And to add to that....he went all medieval on us too! He told Adrian and Christine that he could save souls! Did you know David Gest was an ordained priest?

What did you think of David Gest's time on The One Show? Did you enjoy the show? Were Adrian and Christine on form?

Laurence undresses The ONE Show's green room

When infamous interior designer Laurence Llwellyn Bowen appeared on The ONE show, he couldn't help but cast his creative eye over our humble Green room.

Unsurprisingly even the best of ´óÏó´«Ã½ design failed to live up to his exacting standards, although he did give us a concession for our flocked wallpaper!

Find out what scathingly low mark out of ten he awards the room and what quick fix suggestions he offers...

Tell us whatÌýyou think. Was Laurence overly harsh? Or were his views right on the money?

Who would have thought that xxxxxxxxx (not telling you, after all we don't want to spoil your viewing pleasure) would have come tops with Strictly Come Dancing judge .

Ìý

The One Show viewersÌýare alreadyÌýgetting behind our very own Christine Bleakley and John Sergeant, before they've evenÌýtaken to theÌýdancefloor.

Ìý

Christine's chuffed at the support and wanted to tell you how'sÌýshe's been getting on:

I'm really excited but nervous at the same time.

I've never ever done anything like this before, this is just way out of any comfort zone I know. It's daunting, but it's incredible, I've loved every minute. I thought I would be so bad at it thatÌýit would depress me. But it's just been brilliant.

But IÌýcan't waitÌýfor the last two seconds of that firstÌýsong.Ìý

TheÌýfirst dance isÌýgoing to be a ballroom dance so 'posture, keeping your head and elegance is the key' so ,Ìýmy partner,Ìýkeeps saying!

But there is one thing, I've discovered I've got bizarre shoulders that have a mind of their own! Keep sending me your good luck messages. Thank you."

Ìý

Proud father, Timothy Brooks from Devon kindly sent us this video of his daughter Ruby who love singing along to the One Show theme song.

And Ruby's not the only one...The One Show theme song seems to do the strangest things to babies, children and even pets.

If you know someone or have an animal that gets lost in the moment when they hear our theme tune playing on the TV...we'd love to see your videos.

Just film it, post it one of the many videos websites out there and send us the link.

Whether it's singing, dancing or just plain amusing...we can't wait.

Oh, if we could claim a penny for every time we get someone telling us Adrian ChilesÌýlooks like everyone on The One Show team would be very rich.

Ìý

But there are no pennies falling from the sky and Adrian's not getting a facelift...well, not that we know of.

Ìý

But according to you, Adrian doesn't just resemble , he's a dead ringer for the man on the street too!
