The One Show Team | 13:39 UK time, Friday, 2 October 2009

Adrian, Christine, Lionel Blair, Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine

Adrian

and Christine were joined by not one, but two guests for this week's hour-long One Show! Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine came in to talk about their wildlife series, Last Chance To See.

Last time Stephen Fry was on The One Show, he was ever so modest and declined to be nominated as a national treasure. So, The One Show's Des Coleman took up the challenge to prove once and for all that Stephen does indeed deserve the title!

Madonna is reportedly leaving Britain because she's fed up of being called Madge. So...

In Scotland, Justin Rowlatt looked at the various measures being used to fight the rising numbers of children committing crimes.

Miranda visited Cambridgeshire to see a very special breed of semi-wild horse, the Konik pony.

In the final part of our 'Building Our House' series, One Show architect Jonathan Foyle took a bath, and told us about it. He visited Gladstone Pottery Museum in Stoke-on-Trent to see examples of the first plumbed-in washing facilities.

Lionel Blair gave us a tour around his childhood home in North London.

Fresh is not always best. Our food man, Jay Rayner explained that the controlled rotting process can lead to a tastier, more tenderised piece of meat. Not be sniffed at etc etc.

In Hertfordshire, Christine Walkden met George Blackburn and his topiary.

And finally, we welcomed back Arlene Phillips, our One Show Strictly Come Dancing correspondent. She's made her Strictly prediction, and sealed it in an envelope.
