Who should win Sports Personality Of The Year?

This year, The One Show can exclusively reveal the shortlist of contenders for the illustrious title.

Drum roll please! And the nominees are...

Rebecca Adlington - Swimmer
Great Britain's most successful Olympic Swimmer for a century. Rebecca broke a 19-year old world record, to win ger two Gold medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle in Beijng.

Ben Ainslie OBE - Yachtsman
Three-times Olympic Gold medallist Ben sailed to Gold again this year in Beijing defending his title from Athens in 2004.

Joe Calzaghe CBE - Boxer
Last year's winner of the Sports Personality of the Year. The 'Welsh Dragon's rated in the top 10 boxers in the world.

Nicole Cook - Cyclist
She is the World Road Race champion and Olympic Gold medallist. In Beijing this year she achieved Gold in the Women's Road Race - The 200th Gold for Great Britain in the Modern Olympic Games.

Lewis Hamilton - World Champion F1
The youngest ever Formula One World Champion. Lewis' triumph has made him first Briton to take the world title since Damon Hill in 1996 and Britain's ninth champion.

Chris Hoy MBE - Cyclist
Scotland's most successful Olympian but the most successful Olympic male cyclist of all time after bringing home his three Gold medals. He's the first Brit to win three Golds in a single Olympic event since 1908.

Christine Ohuruogu - Athlete
London Born Christine is the current Commonwealth, World and now Olympic Champion in the 400m. She ranks third amongst the all time best British women 400m runners.

Andy Murray - Tennis
Currently the highest-ranked British player and ranked four in the world after the 2008 U.S. Open, in which he reached the final, eventually losing out to Roger Federer.

Bradley Wiggins OBE - Cyclist
Belgian-born British professional track and road bicycle racer, Bradley achieved two Gold medals at this year's Olympics for the 4km Individual Pursuit and Team Pursuit.

Rebecca Romero - Cyclist
In winning the Gold at Beijing for the individual pursit, Rebecca became only the second woman in the world to win a medal in two different sports at the Olympic Games, having earned silver for rowing in 2004.
