Blue eyed boy?
There are a number of questions surrounding Peter Hain's admission that more donations to his deputy leadership campaign weren't registered as they should have been.
How many donations weren't registered?
Who made them?
Did Mr Hain contact the Electoral Commission to tell them of those donations before he was called by reporters eager to know more about the Park House Club dinner?
Was this the only fundraising dinner held that led a donation that wasn't registered?
And having spent much of yesterday on the phone trying to stand up the story before broadcasting it last night, I've got another one:
WHY did Newsnight give Mr Hain's photograph a pair of sparkling blue eyes?

I missed Newsnight, i was watching mastermind on S4C. the contestants weren't up to much but the presenter was out of this world. Does anyone know who she was?
To be honest, if something illegal has taken place then the CPS should investigate and bring charges. The politicians should also be accountable to their relative standards watchdogs. I glanced through the pages online and came across "UK secondary school students have slipped down an international league table of reading and maths standards". Why aren't we talking about this? What happened to our education system? Didn't Tony Blair talk about 'Education, education, education'? and now he's left office we're seeing the knock-on effects of his government's policies? The UK is 24th for maths and 17th for literacy this year amongst OECD countries. Truly shocking. We should be focusing on such results and trying to sort it out and leave the donations saga to the police and standards watchdogs. There isn't nearly enough serious policy debate.
So they take on crap administrators, never check or monitoring what happens in the office and having been in politics for donkeys ears, no one knows the rules.
Which ever one is true - it needs reviewing and sorting.
Huw Roberts ( is it ?)the guy who organised the dinner says he told them they had to declare it.
Wasnt he Ron Davies's advisor at one time.
Peter Hain is going to have to fight his way out of this one.
If Peter Hain can't run his campaign for deputy leadership without making a shambles of it, why should we think that he is capable of running a multi billion pound Govt Dept?
There's and old saying "We get the politicians that we deserve" God help us.
His only saving grace to date is that he is probably third in line to be sacked. It's about time that Gordon Brown got his act together. The problem may not be of his doing, but the longer that he is seen to be dithering about it, the weaker and more incompident he looks. Get on with it Gordon so that you can get on with running the country !
