Asked about how he had waited so long to become DUP leader, Peter Robinson quipped "I am a patient man". Martin McGuinness says he is not expecting "Chuckle Brothers Mark 2". So far as the timing of the handover is concerned, the latest buzz is that it could be in mid June, not May as Ian Paisley indicated last month.

I can just about recall The Coup back in the seventies, when a younger Peter Robinson sporting sinister, tinted specs, usurped the political crown from the long-standing Unionist MP, William Craig. Mr Robinson merely scraped through at the time; I think possibly by several dozens of votes. Nevertheless, that was sufficient and he's never really looked back.
