Sign-off blog

The blog is moving to a new home. Admittedly, we are not venturing far down the information superhighway. In fact, it is the equivalent of moving into a new bungalow in the same cul-de-sac - and one, I am assured by the technical boffins at ´óÏó´«Ã½ News online, with a slightly bigger lounge room, a more capacious barbeque, a turbo-charged Ute in the driveway and the fanciest model of the Hills Hoist in the backyard (for the uninitiated, that's a rotary washing line).

In the blurb that we have been suggested to write, the talk is of a "fresh format" where you can get "all of my expert analysis in one place - including my video, audio and news stories".

In truth, I am not sure that anything I have ever written on Australia could be described as "expert". Still, the new page hopefully means that we can provide more up-to-date material than that old favourite, "The castaway dog returns home", which has been sat atop "Nick's TV/Radio reports" for the past two years. It will also be good to see the back of "Australia's devastated mining industry", which doesn't look too clever now that the mining boom mark two, as it is being called, has cranked into action.

(By contrast, "Australia tackles NRL booze culture", the third on that list, has the feel of an evergreen. We could run it virtually every week in the winter months, with a slight tweak to update the latest player who has placed himself in the tabloid sin bin.)

Perhaps we should look on it more as a renovation than a move, which is another of Australia's great suburban pastimes.

That said, for those who follow the blog on RSS please update your link: /news/correspondents/nickbryant/rss.sxml

See you at the new home, and feel free to BYO.

    Looking forward to it Nick.
I only respond regularly to two journalists in the world...you and Roger Cohen of the New York Times.
All the best to you...also looking forward to regular updates on "fatherhood"...probably the most important job in the world.

Your regular posters will not like the fact that they will be limited to 400 characters in the new format. This will do nothing for any possibility of real debate on your pages.
