Coincidence?

Post categories:

Stephanie Flanders | 12:32 UK time, Thursday, 2 April 2009

A coincidence? I don't think so. The G20 leaders just had to repeat their class photo, because a quick-witted official realised that the Canadian PM was missing from the first.

LONDON, ENGLAND - APRIL 02: World Leaders including U.S. President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Chinese President Hu Jintao, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula Da Silva pose for a family photograph at the G20 summit on April 2, 2009 in London, United Kingdom.

The official explanation is that he was in the bathroom, but given what I said on Tuesday about Canada's squeaky clean record, I suspect foul play. They'll be putting him behind a pot plant for the next one...

...and in an extract of his speech I heard this morning on the radio, Canada was notably absent from Mr. Brown's list of the great nations that have come together to solve the world's problems. Something is definitely afoot...

Still on the ball with your sardonic humour, Stephanie.

Please let us know, how Canada comes out of this gathering, after the dust has died down.

Why 30 leaders (minus the 'indisposed' Canadian PM)in the photo of the G20 'Family'???

    Is it me?

I make a point every week of telling my children (aged 14 and 11) to emigrate to Canada ASAP. I don't want them to grow up to be the tax-paying slaves, paying for Labour's binge for the rest fo their lives. I chose Canada because of the good economy and financial status; also it has lots of space, resources, water; it is well-placed to benefit from global warming (as is Russia, BTW), yet is well insulated from foreign troubles by the US and various oceans. I hope Canada will take then when the time comes - I promise I'll get then as educated as possible !

The UK has been destroyed by Labour (once again) - roll on the election !

    Tinsel more like.

One for the intrepid Stephanie and Paul Mason/Robert Peston to look into instead of reporting on all this PR company Hollywoodesque razmataz?

The Canadian PM was in the toilet and noone noticed surprisingly enough. I do like Ms Flanders but can u be a bit less smug in your reports please. "I was one of the few at the first G20" The news is not about you.

"Bloody Canadians! Where are they when you need them? In the bloody toilet!!"

Dude, it was the English Breakfast. That stuff is hard on the constitution.

As a Canadian, I wish we could put Harper behind a pot plant...permanently.
