It looks like he's got the job as England manager. (apart from the reported £4 million net). What's the first thing you want Fabio to do in his new role?

You know I've got to go you know. Why? You know it's Sarah you know. Hope you know now...you know
Victoria,
Fabio Capello is very welcome to the role of England manager. The day Steve Mclaren was appointed my heart dropped, because I knew it would be another wasted 4 years. Mclaren did not have the qualities to take England forward and I knew it would end in disaster. I am in my 40’s and I can’t remember a time when I have been truly proud of an England performance. I would like before I die to see England play with heart, flair and possibly even success. I’m sure we have the abilities in the players, but we’ve never had the management skills to bring the best out of a disparate team. Capello could be the man to bind these players into a strong team, he certainly won’t be afraid of leaving out ‘star’ players who consistently under-perform like Lampard and Terry.
Finally I hear he is bringing in his own goal-keeping coach. Thank the Lord! We have not had a decent England goal-keeper since David Seaman, who was trained by Bob Wilson at Arsenal. Ray Clemence has been the English goal-keeping coach for years, and has overseen the most appalling performances from a string of England goalkeepers, David James, Paul Robinson and now Scott Carson. The English national goalkeeper was one of strongest positions in world sport, and the likes of Gordon Banks, Pat Jennings and David Seaman, were worth a couple of goals per game in international competitions. They provided a confidence to the back-line England defence and were feared by foreign strikers. Ray Clemence destroyed all of this and should pay back every penny he ever earned from his coaching role. His removal is one of the best things about the clear-out at Soho Square.
Roll-on the new regime, England expects,
Regards,
Rob
Er, I think you'll find that Pat Jennings played for N. Ireland, Rob.
Agree with you about Steve McClaren though, his managerial reign with England was doomed to failure from the start.
What I want to know is why that buffoon Brian Barwick is still in his position?? If he had a shred of integrity he'd resign immediately.
He turned the England team into a laughing stock with the cack-handed way he went about replacing Eriksson. Chasing Scolari around Europe like a jilted lover, upsetting other candidates like Martin O'Neill and Alan Curbishley to the point where they won't even consider working for him now, before finally turning to McClaren when he was the only candidate left.
Did the clown really think that ANYONE believed him when he tried to claim that McClaren had always been his first choice at his unveiling?? No doubt he'll be telling us that Capello was his first choice and he was never interested in Mourinho.
As for Capello, he should brush up on his Inglese, tell the players that he will pick an England TEAM, not a group of individuals, and that reputation and ego will count for nothing. He should also tell them that WAGS will not be coming to games in future.
Oh, and he should ditch John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole. Why? For the simple reason that as a Fulham fan I hate having to cheer on Chelsea players when they play for England.
Here we go again, new manager and England are the next winners of the world cup. Even though we have not qualified and than not allowing for the fact that they are being held in South Africa.
What happened to the dedate from 3 weeks ago, whereby England are just not producing players who are comfortable with a football, and can pass it around as good as the continentals.
Has this now gone down the plug hole as it has for the last 40 years or so the results of which are clear for all to see.
FOOTBALL,FOOTBALL,FOOTBALL.Easy money for ´óÏó´«Ã½ to prattle on about this topic for the next god knows how long!!! I'm sick of it already!!! When the next general election arrives and we get the lowest turn-out of voters on record , the same organisation will accuse all the "Joe Bloggs" of being too lazy to vote. Why? could it be that are force fed FOOTBALL/SPORT instead of the important facts that really affect their lives. You ask most people the name of football players/teams and the reply will be immediate, you ask them to name politicians and what they are doing/ deciding in their name their eyes will just glaze over. STOP IT NOW BEFORE I SAY GOODBYE TO ´óÏó´«Ã½ 5 LIVE FOREVER!!!!!
he will do a good job as england new manager
Fabio and his Italian coaches will not pay tax in the UK as they may be resident in the UK but will be considered not domiciled. At least if the manager was from the UK half his salary would have gone back to the UK in tax.
Perhaps the FA should have gone all the way and have a team of Italian players too.
The first thing he must do is promise all the England fans he is going to give it his best shot. players will only be selected on merit.Anybody not towing the line short sharp shrift out. Wont tolerate red cards or any ill dicipline. He will need to meet the Squad to access their mood and to see how they shape up to the way he feels necessary to the plans he adopts. There will obviously be a honeymoon period.
There is a lot of talk about how sad it is that the new manager is not english.
with all due respect, a lot of the team are not english. They are british, some with west indian origins. You can not call these players english ever.
Are these fans who lament the lack of englishness talking of these players as well?
