Happy New Year

Victoria Derbyshire | 18:08 UK time, Sunday, 30 December 2007

I haven't posted for a week - unforgivable. Here are my excuses...I have two small children who've been overexcited for too long; I have a mum and a fabulous stepdad who've been staying for a week. I've had all the neighbours in for drinks and chilli (I've fairly recently moved and people are quite sociable here and have invitied me to loads of things - this Xmas is the first chance I've had to say come round and have a few bevvies). Iv'e had to go to the sales obviously which took a whole day, and er I'm on leave.

Have still listened to lots of radio cos I can't live without it. Rather odd listening to pre-recorded programmes (inluding my own), and "best ofs" - they don't ever have the same atmosphere as a live show, although Russell Brand was just as funny the second time around. Do you feel cheated when you hear pre-recorded stuff on Five Live or do you understand that we like a bit of time off with our families at Xmas too?

One good thing about the best-of-type-of-programme is that you hear interviews you missed first time round. There was a beautfiul love story on Saturday Live which was replayed from earlier in the year about two kids in a children's home in the NE of England decades ago who became very close friends. The authorities in their wisdom decided to move one of them (the boy) to a different home because they thought the friendship was unhealthy. The boy kept absconding to try and keep in touch with the girl. Many many years later they eventually bumped into each other but were with other partners. Finally one thing lead to another and they were both single again - and got married. I really haven't done ths story justice here at all but it was very uplifting.

Hope you have a very happy new year and I'll talk to you soon.

Hi Victoria,me talk to John Sitati in Uganda this morning and helping us with our RAOK :)

I must say I'm hoping that hearing about John may touch some people's hearts and that if they want to help him and his work, then please let them get in touch with me so that I can put them in touch with John :)

thanks again and Happy New Year to all :)
