I didn't set the alarm for 4am in the end. I got up with my two boys at 7, put the radio on immediately and discovered Ricky Hatton's fate.
What's driving me mad is that most people being interviewed this morning are saying "well it was a division too far, he IS a light welterweight afterall " etc etc - when as far as i recall - NOONE said that last week. Noone said this is one weight too far.
Oh well. Let's see what happens on Sports Personality of the Year tonight.
a good effort by hatton but class will always come through mayweather just too good and if you listen to post match hatton interviews he knew that.
A lot of knowledgeable boxing commentators DID say he was out-classed.
Many of them were to be heard on 5Live saying something along the lines of "my heart says Hatton, but my head says Mayweather".
Anyway, a boxer won the Sports Personality.
Oh well.

With reference to the article concerning Andy Bathie, the sperm doner. It has become fashionable to consider that every person has a right to have children. The consequence being that people treat the production of children casually. Certainly Mr. Bathie donated sperm with good intentions. The sad part is that on the programme he stated a number of times that he was not the father of the children concerned. It may be that civil law gives him no rights over his offspring but that can not revoke his parentage. It is not civil law that dictates that same sex couples can not produce children. That is a biological fact. We ought to consider the implications of that fact before recklessly producing childrten under some private arrangement. Who does he expect to pay for his children? Did it ever occur to him that the rights of the child outweigh the rights of any person lucky enough to create them. Having children is a blessing not a right. The CSA have proved to be autocratic and heavy handed in the past but on this occassion they are absolutely correct.
