Your messages for Ricky Hatton

Victoria Derbyshire | 13:12 UK time, Wednesday, 5 December 2007

Ricky Hatton and Floyd MayweatherPlenty of people are getting excited about Ricky Hatton's fight on Saturday. I can't decide whether to set the alarm or just stay up til 4.

We've got the Sports Minister on the show on Friday - he's going to explain why controversially HE thinks boxing should be reintroduced in schools. It was compulsary back in the 50s which I hadn't realised.

    Boxing in the fifties????
Victoria I left school in March 1950 and definately boxing was not included in our school sports. The boys were involved in Cricket and Football,,the girls in Netball, both did x-country running.
Its news to me that Boxing was compulsory, certainly the secondary modern school that I attended definately did not do boxing, and I suspect that most parents would have objected to it being compulsory,I had two sons and I would never have let them get into boxing at school. All of my four children were academically gifted and needed to retain what nature gave them so as to get their Uni degrees.
    John.

I cant believe i am supporting someone from Manchester, must be going soft in my old age.
COME ON RICKY. Dave in Liverpool. p.s i think ricky hatton should fight joe calzaghe for the sports personality of the year, then at least joe wont be beaten by a horse again.

Hatton appeared on QoS the other week. Sue Barker wished him good luck and said we'll be watching.

He would have been paid for his appearance and he also plugged his fight date.

Barker inadvertently plugged Sky, since the pay-per-view channel is the only one showing the fight in the UK.

After all the free plugs, the least Hatton could have done was to sell b/cast rights to the ´óÏó´«Ã½.

Is he greedy or was he locked into contract with Sky? Amazing how Barker got away with plugging Sky.

Since I don't have Sky I shall tune into 5-live. May the best man win.

Make sure you watch Sports Personality of the Year on ´óÏó´«Ã½ telly on Sunday night - if a boxer doesn't win it - there'll be something to talk about on Monday morning!

just looked at bbbc. website and rickys manager is talking about cuts already before a punch is thrown ! How negative is that when every english, irish, scotch, welsh and any other nationality that wants to support the humble underdog,(bar american),is biting there fingernails in trepidation, knowing mayweather is such a formidable opponent! It would do nobody any harm to watch cassius clay v sonny liston on youtube !

Ricky will have to KO Maywether to win IMO and thats nit going to be easy . I don't believe there is any way that Ricky can beat him on points in Las Vegas ( or anywhere else for that matter ) .
I still think Ricky is more on it than Maywether and believe that his sensational body punches will see him win.
