It's the day everyone gets divorced and looks....

Victoria Derbyshire | 08:18 UK time, Monday, 7 January 2008

...for a new job - according to the papers anyway. Morning by the way. Matt texted us from Cardiff to say this: "It's the first Monday of the year - its cold, dark and very depressing. I think 5live should do their bit to remind us what we have to be happy about with a snippet of good news on each january morning. Do you accept?"

Mmm you can help me too if you like. What should Matt feel happy about? Post here quickly before he ends up getting divorced or breaking one of his new year resolutions.

But how about ? (Linking to The Sun's website - anyone offended by beach nudity should probably not look!)

Victoria-I manage a young peoples residential home- with issues related to challenging behaviour-family breakdown /substance misuse-on going areas of care are mentioned on a regular basis in the press/media-however, the state of the nations care systeme is close to breakdown -young people are presenting behaviour patterns normally associated with violent and emotional dispair - the very reason they have been assessed within their home environment and found to be unsafe for the young person or others defined in the children act and regulation/legislation in the green paper"Every Child Matters"promoted by government on a regular basis.
The on going overload of our social services and C.A.M.H.S-Mental Health-for assessment for young people is a clear indication of our societies lack of knowledge regarding policies effecting a generation and future generations of young people-we have clear and highlighted areas and communities within our country where thousands of young people are monipulated into crime-substance misuse-prostitution-by adults intent on destroying communities, by promoting addictions/crime patterns/making "no go areas" and not only in our inner cities.
The children acts designed to protect our young people have in various ways created major issues for our care workers-in that we need to protect those in need which usually means those targeted by abusers but also to support those individuals caring for the needy-a number of caring professionals remain feeling un- supported-attacked within the work place by incidents of verbal/physical and at times sexual assualt-the acts promoted to protect by government continue to protect our young people but have not progressed to help support those working in care-the reaction in our blame culture for the care person "If I do this what will happen to me -by protecting the young person/s I may be unable not to help without using self defence methods when talk down does not work and brings into question welfare and safety"
The number of violent attacks upon care workers have increased through in most cases an increase in substance misuse - cannabis/pills-which are designed by chemical construction to promote serious outcomes-the child care officer is frightened to support those young people in danger - residents-for fear of court proceedings in some cases against the care officer, the change within regulation now needs to happen - the care worker needs to feel supported - we are losing good professional care person/s through government reaction/guidelines designed only to support one area of care-we are here to support the young person in our care-no legislation is supporting the care officer- a profession that allows for physical assualt/verbal abuse daily 24/7 continues to have serious outcomes for all-the majority of care officers in this country are female and the majority of young person/s in foster/residential/independent placements remain male - incidents will increase of violent and serious assaults-communities not able to support through local services are on overflow -those in need within the care system and with" no go areas" regarding crime will increase without the legislation/regulation to support those professionals on the front line-the care person may be under the impression when starting his/her career that they will be in the majority helping the abused and most needy of our society-of course we have a great many cases where young people have been treated appalingly-we now have a great many with the help of adults with one intent-to use and abuse our young through the promotion of crime/substance misuse and destroy communities by unlawful acts-we have a great many issues within our society at present and this area where the local community through the most vulnerable are in need of support but those care worker/s need our support also and that of government -we have created major issues through the most honest of reasons-caring-unfortunately we have distanced the carer through regulations- and legislation.
