My life flashed before me yesterday

Victoria Derbyshire | 07:44 AM, Wednesday, 9 January 2008

It did. I was in the car on the way home in the fast lane of the motorway and suddenly realised it was gliding over a pool of water and I seemed to be getting nearer the car in front. I believed I was going to crash and automatically thought about the 3 men in the my life. Suddenly the water was behind me and it was okay to put the brakes on. I also said slowly "Oh my god".

Anyway luckily for you lot I'm still here.

Two things: do you think Fabio Capello should give Beckham his 100th cap when England play Switzerland in Feb? And are we all partly to blame for Britney Spears' decline? Photos and stories about her are up there in the top ten list of stories clicked on online, and in almost all British papers you can read the latest on her downward spiral...

David Beckham, Britney Spears,......., what an exciting blog.

This is, of course, reflected well in the standard of the presenter's show on Five Live.

Does Victoria only follow entertainment news and football, or am I being unfair?

    1) Capello will, I'm sure, only select Beckham on merit - he has to end selection by reputation.

    2) "We" are not all partly to blame for Britneys decline, unless we pay for the gossip mags.I don't really think you can include web viewing in the blame as its free not sold (yes I know it generates advertising rewvenue) - though it must be unpleasant for Britney.

What is happening to Britney ia partly a normal relationship breakup aplified by "stardom"/LaLa land and mostly amplified by the Media feeding frenzy - not Radio of course (probably because sensational photos have no value) - but TV and Print.

How TV and Print pundits can distance themselves from the paparazzi I don't know as without a market the paparazzi would not exist.

Whiel I'll on a roll I'll let you benefit of another examples of cause and effect -

the car crash in which Princess Diana died was partly the result of excessive speed. Regardless of the fitness of the driver does anybody really beleive the bodyguard or Dodi/Diana would have allowed him to drive at that speed if they were not being dangerously persued/blocked by paparazzi - Are the media too assamed of their demand for paparazzi shots to make this comment?

Why does V D think that it is lucky for US that she is still about. Was she speeding in the outside lane or overtaking ??

No-one wishes ill of anyone else but with the ego that is apparent from the blog and daily programme she should realise that no-one is indispensible NOT EVEN V D !!!

Regularly, like her initials, she doesn't come up to scratch!!
The way she forces her views on guests and then phrases her questions in such a way that she tells them the answer SHE wants is unbelievable !!

Engage brain before starting mouth !!

    Hi Derek

Thks for posting - I think you and I might be on different wavelengths somehow..I don't genuinely believe that it's lucky for lot I'm still here.
There's loads of other miles better stuff on ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio in the mornings - try Jane Garvey on Woman's Hour on R 4, Ken Bruce on R 2, and have you tried ´óÏó´«Ã½ 7 - it's fabulous.

    Thanks

    Victoria

PS BERNIE - er I'm not a Scouser - Jane is, Shelagh is, Cilla is but not me I'm afraid

Well i'm glad you're still about love if for nothing more than letting me excercise my lungs each morning screaming at my radio .
Aquaplaning is a very scary situation to be in as i know only to well being a driver who does about 50k miles a year i've only experienced it once and my devout aethism went out of the window when i had a similar incident to yours also being convinced that i was going to end up mangled .It is down to speed though and i've no doubt that both us in our respective incidents were driving to fast for the conditions , but then hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it as in mine i was well below the speed limit.
