Adebayor's started so well for Man City
The Heinz ad
Here are some emails from listeners who heard Carl from Birmingham explaining his objections to the Heinz ad showing two men kissing...
Anne in Birmingham wrote: "WHY ARE YOU VICTIMISING THIS CALLER, HE DOESN'T AGREE WITH HOMOSEXUALITY AND HE'S ENTITLED TO THAT OPINION. WHY ARE YOU GIVING HIM SUCH A HARD TIME?"
Beryl emailed to say "I' m 62...I've seen the advert.....it's amusing....can't see any gay connections and even if there were I wouldn't have any objections.... disappointed that the advert has been taken off. Some of your callers are so bigotted.....well done for the way you handle them."
Douglas complained: "I am a gay man and am furious at your handling of the Heinz advert debate on Wednesday 25/06/08. Why you let Carl keep speaking such homophobic rubbish and to give him a platform for his bigoted views is unbelievable. To only stop him when he mentioned Muslims was far too late. Do you not realise that it is against the law for people to talk the type of rubbish you allowed Carl to say on your programme. I am distressed that it is OK to do a little gay bashing on your programme so long as religion doesn't get brought into it."
Katy says, "I have never been so angry listening to the radio before! The guy who was complaining about the Heinz advert made me livid. In his words all gay people are psychologically wrong in the head, am I supposed to tell my 1 year old daughter that she cannot see my brother who is gay because of this. I honestly believed that this type of discrimination was fading away, but this is clearly not the case when you get idiots like him spouting their outdated views based on so-called religion. Thank godness Victoria stopped him before he upset more people by starting on the Muslim religion too".
