Landfill decision is the pits!

The fact that the people of Wrexham - due to environmentally pro-active Wrexham Council - have been working hard to recycle more waste now accounts for very little.

Think about it!. Despite the doorstep collections of recyclables from homes in Wrexham vastly reducing the volume of waste being tipped in landfills - the rubbish of Merseyside is being dumped here instead.

There's a cruel irony in that, don't you think? We're tipping less and yet other people can come here to dump their rubbish. What a stinker.

And what makes it worse is the fact that the decision to allow them to dump here was granted in 1995 - when we were practically backward in our thinking when it came to recycling rubbish and safeguarding the environment.

was at last night's meeting at Wrexham Council where 100 protesters were hoping that the planning permission could be revoked.

And you can listen again to a report on today's Good Morning Wales which heard from the protesters and that councillors were frustrated that - under planning law - there were no grounds for them to revoke the permission. [The report went out at 7.35am]

One of the protesters said, 'there is law in this country, but no justice.'
