'Croeso i Gymru' Welsh wannabes
has picked up on the story that the community of Audlem, Cheshire, wants to become part of Wales. []
OK, so you do have to actually leave Wales via Wrexham on the A525, go towards Whitchurch, Shropshire, England, and then over the Shropshire border with Cheshire to actually get to Audlem - don't let geography get in the way. [Once the county of Flintshire was in three separate parts].
Anyway, a on the shows people in favour - apparently it's more to do with hospital parking charges and free prescriptions than any love for Wales.
Meanwhile, is blogging today the North Bristol NHS Trust, which runs Southmead and Frenchay hospitals in Bristol, said it is not being paid for treating Welsh patients and so has imposed a ban on patients from Wales to safeguard their financial position.
And Western Mail and the Daily Post columnist asks why Audlem wants to join us: Is this because of our economy, our culture, our sport or just the simple fact that we are a fantastic nation? Er, no. The villagers of Audlem only want to become Welsh to get access to benefits such as free hospital parking and prescriptions. You couldn't make it up, could you?
