Audience scoop Hippodrome fire story and technology gets it out there in real-time

How journalists tell the story is changing due to technology in the hands of the man and woman in the street - and this was highlighted yesterday as a drama unfolded in Wrexham town centre when the old Hippodrome Cinema building went up in flames.

Within minutes we were receiving calls and texts from passers-by caught up in the incident as they stood around the cordoned off Henblas Street, and soon after we were being offered photos and video as nearby office and shop workers used their mobile phones to capture the unfolding drama from their roof-top vantage points.
