Name Wrexham's university after Glyndwr or Joey?
What do you think of Glyndŵr University - the new name of Wales's 10th uni - Wrexham's North East Wales Institute or NEWI to you and me?
They could have named it after some of our other famous sons and daughters from history [Henry Morton Stanley, John Wilkinson]; or the world of sport [Mark Hughes, Joey Jones] or even showbiz [Tim Vincent, Ricky Tomlinson]. It could also have been named simply - Wrexham University.
A press release from NEWI says: "The institute, which has nearly 8,000 students, is to be named Glyndŵr University after Wales' most famous son - the visionary leader, scholar and nation builder Owain Glyndŵr."
Principal of the new Glyndŵr University, Professor Michael Scott, said: "We can take great pride in our association with Owain Glyndŵr, I believe for many Welsh people he is the single most important historical and cultural figure."
