When Rooney took his World Cup bow

LONDON - Here's the latest entry from our guest blogger, Ross Kinnaird, the sports photographer whose last entry created a bit of a debate on the merits, or otherwise, of digitially manipulating images.

His latest snap shows Sven-Goran Eriksson briefing Wayne Rooney as he prepares to make his first appearance versus Trinidad & Tobago.

After 58 minutes of torture, Sven puts England fans at ease and prepares to unleash Rooney

Not the most difficult picture to shoot - but just the type of moment during a game that needs to be captured. Working conditions are tight - there are over 200 telephoto lenses pointing in all directions. Every photographer has their own agenda, all trying to get something different. Some are looking for stock imagery, some for the news moments in a game, (e.g. Sven and Rooney). Many of the images will be used in books and magazines for years to come, while others will be wrapped around fish and chips by the weekend!

Without Rooney, England is a long ball, set piece team. This is why Sven is risking everything in his path: to Berlin or Destruction. Only in England could we think Sven was a tactical genius. Did no-one watch his Lazio team. Champions by default, BANKRUPT BY ERICSSON, at least in large part and characterised by Veron's massive punts downfield to the strikers and Mihailovic's set pieces!!!!!!!!!

Poor old Enga-Sweden-Land, what will become of us. If England do not win, or more likely, as they deserve, go out in last 16 or last 8 the fall out on all sides is going to be huge.

If the unthinkable does happen, which it wont, and England go out in the last 16!!
What impact will this have on our new manager whom some part of the blame most be attached.
Don't worry Mr M but your old boy Becks and the deadly strike partnership of Owen and the Roo master not forgetting the tightest and meanest defence in the world, have I mentioned the midfield, only a fool will predict England not picking up the greatest prize on earth.
